Well, there's not really any other conclusions to be drawn. All the best to both of them.

Well even if the other articles are fair game, this is certainly not... it's a private moment and shouldn't be invaded by scumbag paparazzi. Honestly, why do people validate the papers' actions by paying money for them?

If its true, its sad, but like most couples who split they will move on, and and I'm sure they will both find themselves in new relationships at some point and they'll be fine, I have no doubt about that.

I don't know what to say after seeing those pictures and reading the article. Even though I have never met Chris, he plays quite a significant part of my day to day life and I am genuinely sad that he is going through such a horrible time.

If the circumstances of the break up are as they seem it makes it even more heartbreaking. The thought that they both still love each other deeply yet want such different things, I would imagine makes it harder for them to bear.

Whatever the ins and outs I wish them, and especially Chris, all the best.

Totally agree with you. All red tops are beneath contempt. It's only people paying for the bloody things that keeps them going.

Although it is a private moment (and I can't believe I'm going to say this) of all the articles I've read on this the People's one is perhaps the better one (for want of a better word) & has no bile in it like the Scum Of The World of Daily Heil's one. No mention about his career, past controversies, anything like that, just that it was a tearful goodbye. However it was private moment & you're right our paparazzi are scum, the worst one been that Aussie twat Mr Paparazzi.

Shame the pair did break up & I just hope both move on & find someone that makes them happy, I never thought they'd split up actually seeing that they'd been together for so long, I think that's what makes it so sad. :(

I thought the same about the article in the People and thought that they did actually handle it quite well for the press.

Also on another note I do not think that Chris will extensively talk about this tomorrow morning. I think that he will just confirm that the rumours are true at the start of the show and maybe say how he feels and then he will just leave it and move onto happier stuff it think.

Travis Bickle, you have written exactly what I was going to say in a few of your previous posts in this thread!! Unless I think something else about this, I can only really echo what has already been said, eg I am genuinely sad, and I truly wish the pair of them the very best of luck , and I hope the pair of them find some new partners.

I totally convinced they will find new partners, I'm just very suprised about the break-up after so many years together, if its true about the reasons of the split being married does'nt stop you doing the things you like etc, I guess he feels marriage is no more different then living together as they are, except you have a piece of paper.

It's really sad.

I just hope Chris doesn't spiral down in to a well of self-pity and end up dragging "Pinch 'em" Fincham to Peppermint Hippo at 11am, getting hammered on lager and spending all day stuffing crumpled up fivers in to some strumpet's G-string.

I don't think you can do the kind of work as a radio DJ with Chris' sensibilities and not have a massive ego -- he's the latest in a short line that started with the likes of Stern (not that he's a copycat, but Chris is, or was, a Stern fan).

That ego and the celebrity can create an exaggerated idea of what to expect in terms of a partner -- why should I be "trapped" in a marriage with a "normal" person?

It's the idea of "I'm a Big Celebrity, I should be able to date other hot celebrities!" without taking in to account factors other than the celebrity.
I don't think it was all a joke when Chris flirted with guests, Fearne or Jo Whiley, and he was not really discouraged even when they were clearly creeped out by it.
"Hey, I'm not the creepy guy, I'm great and a Big Celebrity! Idolise me, Debbie!"

Much of what I'm saying is pure speculation, but I don't think we can listen to Chris talk for over 10 hours a week and not pick up on some of this.

I'm not trying to suggest I know anything about Chris' relationship, but I do know something about another radio presenter who was in a similar position, at a similar age, because he's spoken about it openly:
My Main Man, Adam Carolla, was a presenter on a successful radio show and also presented a couple of TV shows.
He'd been dating his girlfriend Lynette for quite a few years, but would not bow to pressure from her to get married. Eventually, he decided to end the relationship because, as he said, he "Wanted to know what it would be like to be single as a celebrity" -- he'd not been in that position before.

Well, despite the likes of Natasha Henstridge claiming that she found Adam attractive, he soon found out that he really wasn't the fanny magnet he thought he was. He dated a few * waitresses, but no celebrities actually wanted to jump in to bed with him once they'd actually left the radio studio.

About a year later, he went back to Lynette (who is gorgeous, by the way) with his tail between his legs and she took him back.
After saying he never wanted to get married or have kids, he did both, and now has 4-year old twins with Lynette. He now says it was the best thing he ever did. He was 42 when the kids were born.

Having said all that, I don't think Chris has any obligation to anyone to discuss anything about his relationship on air or in the papers, or anywhere. If the split is not true, I'm sure he'll refute it, but if it is, he doesn't have to even mention it.
Despite the fact that the team all talk about their personal lives, it's completely fair that certain parts of their private lives remain off-limits.

Nah, I'm quite happy to reply. I'll freely admit I am an emotional person and cry easily. Not so long ago I cried at the death of a character in an episode of Lost that I'd already seen at least twice. I find crying about stuff that doesn't impact on my life directly cathartic. If people wanna mock me for that, fine, go ahead.

I acknowledged in my post the apparent stupidity at feeling upset at the breakup of two people who are essentially strangers to me. But their situation has some echoes of my own last relationship and that, combined with the fact that Chris often talks about his personal life on air and that can lead to us listeners feeling somehow connected (even if that's a false feeling), is enough to make me feel upset at the news and the photos in particular.

I'm not gonna lose any sleep over this. But I doubt very much I'll 'get a grip' and stop being emotional in that way anytime soon. I don't ask or expect everyone else to feel the same, so if Gaspode or anyone else likes their grip on things better than they do mine, just carry on as you are.

Jesus, they are really sad pics, I don't think Chris will be on air tomorrow now this is splashed over more news papers.

Also watching back to the interview this week with Dizzie askin Chris what song he would have at his wedding and if he was married Chris kinda looks knocked off guard.

We have heard the stories in the various papers. But could we please wait till tomrrow for chris too officially anounce something. We have not had direct quotes or statements from eiher chris or sophie. So this could be the papers stiring up things again.

intresting from corsaboi on unofficial mills
his was posted saturday

this is gonna be interesting, given that only 3 sites have picked up on it, the only mainstream one being digispy, which repeated the mail story. Although it is a saturday, however I reckon most sites still operate. There's also this strange thing that some guy posted on cm.net on friday morning about sophie, and then the story appeared that night. If I was a suspicious sort, I'd be thinking that some hack from the mail posted fishing for information from the people posting on cm.net, rather than listening to 17 1/2 hours on the iplayer.

If nothing appears in the sunday papers, we can possibly assume that the majority of the story is a fabrication given that nobody else touched it, there's no solid evidence in the story apart from "some friend" and something is not quite adding up.

Then Monday's show will be damn interesting, cos I reckon

Well only the people picked up on it on sunday.

this was his only unrelated post.

AND on the week that mcfly are the celebrity raspberry.

ergo, harry from mcfly = cl1ffer.

it would explain why the story only broke on friday (given that they would have had a small off air conversation, where perhaps they were briefed not to mention marriage etc - with the aftermath of the dizzee article). and moyles backed harry into a corner based on his drum solo (clearly unhappy on the radio) - so harry probably just wanted to get a bit of revenge on chris after he'd ambushed him on air.

haha, it's fun pretending to be a newb. i almost convinced myself.

Everyone needs to stop saying that this story is not true. It obviously is as Chris is basically ignoring it apart from a couple of comments like "well that's everything that happened this week that i wanna talk about." its obviously really affected him but i kinda think he should confirm the rumours and lay it to rest
