Haven't Sky recently bought out Virgin Media's channels? Perhaps this is all part of the bigger scheme of things so that they have no competition ;)

Actually reading about this on another forum they are moving content from Sky 1 & Bravo to Sky 1/2/3 & putting Challenge on in place of Channel One. Good to see that Channel One lasted a long whil

From what I understand that is the case, supposedly, actually no one fully knows. What I find rather annoying (and I say this as someone who only has Freeview) is that Sky will close these down & essentially own the rights to broadcast the programmes broadcast on Bravo, Virgin 1, etc. when I personally think that those programmes should go "up for tender" again to allow other channels to fairly bid for their programmes.

However we are talking about Sky who seem to do no wrong yet the BBC get lambasted at every opportunity the media gets

I've only just noticed that we have a channel called 'Channel One'. How long has it been there for then?

The Virgin 1 brand was dropped about 3-4 weeks ago making it's rebrand pointless seeing as it's about to bite the bullet soon. Not the first time Sky has taken away a channel with alterntive content on it is it *cough* Sky Sports News *cough*

Channel One was only ever going to be a placeholder though - which is why absolutely no effort has been made on presentation. The only reason it was even rebranded was because Sky lost the rights to use the Virgin name and Channel one came about as a temporary measure while they figured out what they wanted to do with freeview space - hence the lack of fanfare about the whole "launch" of it. Considering anything good will now go to Sky 1 and freeview will now get Challenge it all seems a bit pointless

I never watched Lost. We only ever have The Simpsons on Sky 1. Sky don't invest anything in new programmes, they just buy stuff from America - most of it shite.

Not quite true anymore, although it was five years ago. They do have the Terry Pratchett dramas, plus the new Karl Pilkington Travel-doc, Ross Kemp on, Martina Cole's The Take, Must be the Music, Got to Dance, Pineapple Dance Studios and that's just in the past year. I'm not saying it's all good but it's far better than it used to be. Far more than UK stuff than E4, but not as much as say ITV2.

The Terry Pratchett stuff was great - Going Postal is a brilliant film.
