Yeah, I did think that was a bit off..... Firstly, why the smeg is a texan judge able to get involved in our fooseball club politics, and secondly why didn't RBS wave two fingers at them?!

I know we have yankee users on here, but sometimes the US do seem to impose themselves waaaaaaaaaaay too much. Does my sweed in; you're not our mum.

It was almost amusing watching all the Liverpool fans thinking it was over. I had a sneaking suspicion that the buy out wouldn't sort much ON the park. The team's still guff having not been strengthened properly recently and some good players sold on. That won't get fixed until January. I say almost because if I back an English team it's Liverpool...

I suspect this season might just be about survival, which is a shocking state for a team like Liverpool to be in. Hopefully they'll be able to do enough in January to get them moving in the right direction again.

Meanwhile... it's Celtic v Rangers on Sunday. Let the mayhem commence.

I have no idea what his point was. You know how celebs who write books often have a ghost writer so that what they are saying is presented in a way people will understand? Some people need a ghost talker.

Ian Holloway is known for that though. He's basically saying that now Rooney is saying he's unhappy and wants to leave, Man U will have to let him go for a bargain price, and suggesting that Rooney is possibly going to take a cut of what the transfer fee would have been had he been happy to stay.

(For legal reasons this is not my opinion, nor the opinion of Ian Holloway, but my interpretation of what Ian Holloway said.)

I sort of see where he's coming from, look at the whole Ronaldo scenario, and all that "slavery" bollocks that surrounded it. Rooney seems to be blaming his problems on the pitch on the team, he can't just admit he's going through crap phase at the moment.

Maybe some people need a ghost thinker.

Actually the more I think about it, the more I don't get what Holloway was saying. Surely if Rooney wants to leave Man U, then anyone wanting to sign him will have to pay a contract release fee, as according to Wikipedia he is contracted to 2012. Or am I missing the point of the Bosman ruling? I thought it let player leave freely after the contract has expired. Or can they just leave at any point should they decide they've had enough? Although that seems a bit daft, as what is the point of a contract in that case?

Surely its theoretically no different from any employment contract in that you can opt out at any given time if you give an agreed amount (or form) of notice? And I agree, Rooney is under contract until 2012 so he wouldn't go on a free if he went this January or in the summer would he?

He would go for less money than if he was under a longer contract though - you can sign a pre-contract deal with a new club when you have 6 months left on your contract so effectively clubs try to get players to re-sign with 2 years left.

The new contract means nothing more than the fact that if Rooney does now leave United will get full value from his transfer fee (and Everton 25% of everything over £27 million)

The Whole Rooney thing angers me somewhat, all that "they're not moving forward bollocks" and yet he's staying because of a new contract with extra money no doubt, funny that, and yet poor old Pompey could be liquidised by Tuesday :x

Anyone who wants to know what I think is wrong with football these days need only look at the events of this week to see it. A petulant little wank of a man (one who has been SHIT at his job recently it should be noted) gets his way to make even more obscene money than he was already on. The people supplying his club with a massive chunk of that money - Sky - made a £230m profit in the first quarter of their year alone. That'll be Sky who are owned by Rupert Murdoch - the same guy that is backing the government that this week announced cuts that would hit the poorest the most. And speaking of poor, one of those teams that tried to keep up and actually compete in the sport are on the brink of going out of business and there is NOTHING their poor fans can do about it.

Bye bye Pompey, Pompey bye bye.

See... I'd suggest that, but since some of they knuckle dragging pricks thought it was funny to break seats and throw them at us yesterday, maybe I'll hold off.

This happening after they score the penalty to be LEADING 3-1 too, so I'm guessing in a GOOD mood at the time. Dread to think what they'd have done in a BAD mood.

£35 for Carroll?

WHAT a joke, with Torres going for £50m and Suarez coming in for £25m, it leaves Liverpool with £25m from the deal that the could invest in another world class [or even wonderkid] striker like Forlan, Milito, Gomez, Hulk, Lukaku - and still have a bit of money from the board to fill the CM hole that liverpool STILL have on someone like Rodwell, Parker, Henderson, Cattermole or even Barry from City!

Whilst Liverpool will be taking Chelski on a massive ride cashing in on Torres who has looked poor by being niggled with injuries (as he has his whole liverpool career) - they will undo any future progression that this deal could have bought them by splashing all their money on Carrol.

Parallels to the Anelka deal which allowed Wenger to buy Henry and Kanu - this had the potential to be the moment where Liverpool would stop relying on the potential of Torres to perform, whilst being held back by his poor form and injury record, but i think that Carroll is a bog-standard center forward worth £15m (as he's english) and does NOT have the potential to transform liverpool's style of play or make an instant impact (being that he's injured as well).

Liverpool will have royally * up by the end of this transfer window if everything goes through as expected.

Crawley Town (my home town) v Man U in the FA cup...Great results for Crawley recently. I haven't ever seen them do so well. I don't think they will beat Man U though, although it would be amazing if they did!

Its very unlikely but i wouldn't be surprised to see united put out a C team and struggle.
