The headlines can be so deceiving - The Guardian also headlined with Evans losing 2 million listeners prompting people to delve into the article to work out the real story: http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2010/oc ... jars-radio - and this is supposed to be a non-sensationalist quality daily.

Meanwhile in Middle England, the Mail has housewives thinking that the end is nigh for Moyles:
"Tuning out: The riddle of Chris Moyles' 600,000 lost listeners and why it may spell the end of his breakfast show".

Only year-on-year figures matter. Anything else is worthless. If Chris is up year-on-year, it'll be time for more cakes.

It's a bit like retail sales figures -- you can't compare Oct-Dec sales at Currys with July-Sept sales. That would be ridiculous.

3 months to mid-September?
So middle June onwards? Or as I like to call it "The Holiday Season" when ratings go down across all media.

Correct - particularly for Breakfast shows, aimed at 16-24 year olds, many of whom would have a significant chunk of those 3 months off school/uni/college so wouldn't be up early enough to listen.
