The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

I'll start with bluntness, I think it's rubbish.

It appears to be just a lot of unrelated stock footage of fields and houses with the sun rising, followed by a few animated bits.

Being someone who is very familiar with After Effects and video editing in general, it seemed like quite amateur and general stuff.

The zoom out from a random building in America was taken straight from this tutorial:

http://www.videocopilot.net/tutorial/earth_zoom/

Why didn't they even change it to Portsmouth, or failing that, anywhere in Britain?

The other animations seemed rushed too. Like the zoom ins of pictures, for some unknown reason they don't appear to have enabled the Easy Ease effect on the keyframes to make it work smoothly as i presume was planned. There was also a point where some futuristic lock opened onto a blown up version of that picture of the team on a white background. It just ended up looking a bit like one of those fan videos you see made in movie maker for Justin Bieber or someone.

Maybe picky, but for something somebody's presumably been paid a lot of money to make , I'd expect more. For a lot of shows on the TV which don't even have that many viewers, they always have pretty decent titles, so comparing those with this, it just looks pretty poor and unplanned. I can't imagine someone sitting down and thinking 'we'll have a shot of a field, and.. another shot of a field.. and, how many field shots now? right, 1 more of those. then we can zoom out on america.'

Considering the style of the cheesy song, I don't know about anybody else but the video just doesn't get the right tone. I much prefer this little animation from a few years ago, much more suitable:

EDIT: 1 more thing. I like at the lyric 'we're on the red button' that it zoomed in on the red on/off button on a remote. Classy.

You are right, but to be fair it was probably done last minute by someone involved on the video team just to give the show something when the cheesy song was playing. I doubt they contracted someone to do it. :p

It did look pretty rubbish... but then it's not actually a TV show is it.

Harsh on planks that.

I was quite surprised they bothered to put a 'BBC' logo on at the beginning, unless that was sourced from another BBC show?

Meee too. And I love the mis-references which they talked about on the show today. Like the 70's traffic, and the zooming outwards globe - which starts homed in on Texas!

Beaut!

There's a Cortina in the second shot, which is nice :D Not many of those around anymore.

Even in Essex, the spiritual home (as well as the actual home) of the Cortina, I haven't seen one for at least ten years. There are a few old Capris coughing their way up and down the A12 still though.

The one you wanted to avoid was the 1.6 laser - grossly underpowered, and the back end used to fly around and try to take you off the road on the slightest bend. People unfortunate enough to own one used to put a patio slab in the boot to weigh them down......

I'm too young to have seen Capris when they were new. Apparently my Granddad used to have one though. They were like the European Mustang weren't they, just with less power...!

Noooooooo - patios were the equivalent of stone cladding, you can't GET less middle class than a patio slab.

Did you type that from your conservatory while reading Nigel Slater recipes?

You can't sit in my conservatory, its dangerous with the broken glass and the roof falling off and all. Its used as a storage space for things-we-haven't-managed-to--get-around-to-taking-to-the-tip-yet. I like Nigel Slater's books though. Even if he annoys the hell out of me on telly.
