Anybody else putting their name in for the draw for Radio 1 studio tours next Sat. Think there is only 9 places per tour so fingers crossed demand is low!! Signed up for the first one of the day in the hope there will be less demand than for tours later in the day, so I'll be keeping the fingers crossed between now and Thursday. :D I know it probably will be a geekfest but for anybody near London its a good opportunity to see where everything is put together.

The studio tour was amazing. We went round the daytime office first (which i recognised to be the office cam from last year some time) seen everyone's desk and were shown a giant chocolate sculpture of Chris Moyles' head that somebody had sent in. We were then taken downstairs and into the Live Lounge, where we could hear and see Jo Whiley talking on the radio in the studio next door through the glass. Then Reggie Yates came in with some little cakes which he offered to us. We went into another studio where Dev chatted for a bit and showed us how the desk works. Everyone working there was cool and chilled out, even the security (Billy on security was there!!). Then we seen a few of the other offices and then the tour was over. Such a fun experience.

Managed to get a ticket in the end, definetly recommend to anybody next year with even half an interest in Radio 1!

As Andrew just said, started with a quick tour of the offices from Annie Macs producer, then downstairs to the studios. I know for anybody working there they probably wonder why anybody would want to visit, but after seeing the studios for so long on webcams etc, it was so cool to see the place in person. Jo was on air in the Moyles studio. Looking in there from the live lounge I just had to think back to all the guests and rants that studio has seen over the years! We were offerd to record a request and quick spiel about yout tour highlight for Reggies show and two of our group volounteered. Bottled it myself thinking my lovely Irish accent would come across badly!! It's probably is the only regret of the day. Since I'll hardly be back again I should have just done it. Seeing the software the DJ's use to avoid crashing the vocals was quite cool too...I wasen't brave enough to ask how some DJ' s still manage to crash the tunes however!

Stars of the day from my point of view were, Producer Rach, I know she comes across quite corporate on air sometimes, but she really was so nice to chat to. 2nd is Dev, again somebody who I never really connected with their on air persona, but just came across as very down earth and a top bloke and obviously loves what hes doing. Last but not least Billy Onsecurity...guy is a ledgend, brillaint sense of humour, knows the studio technology inside out surprisingly, and was just fantastic with our tour. Aled or Chris if you read this, you have to get him an on air role someday :D

Even though we were probably the 6th or 7th tour of the day, all the R1 staff from the security guys to production staff were really friendly and seemed to enjoy having visitors in for the day!
