So, are there any fellow gamers out there who will be getting this today?

Personally, I don't think i'm gonna bother. They have spent so long making it such an indepth game you will need to apply, literally, 100's of hours to it just to scratch the surface. Sure, I love my PS3ing, but the ammount of time i'll be able to dedicate to it wouldn't even get me 5% into the game.... But hearing about it on Newsbeat does get me a little twitchy to play it...!

One of my mates has booked two weeks off work to play it, which initially sounds sad, but to be fair he had hols to be used up by end of Dec, so seemed as good a reason as any, if not he'd have had two weeks to sit at home fiddling with himself.

Played the first one on my PS1, but not played any since. They do look good though and you can damage the cars this time can't you?

Yep, damage looks good too. The game does look amazing, and is one of the reasons I brought my PS3 back in the summer. I will get it, but I think Santa is going to bring it for me, so going to have to wait.

You raise an interesting point Andy. In my observation, gamers don't like waiting for their newly released games, they like to get them as soon as they're out. But I imagine a lot of people will feel obliged to wait and see what Santa brings - I wonder if releasing it at this time might upset a few people?!

it upset plenty of people Yuds, it was meant to be released over a year ago!! It has created some very negative press for the game....

I cancelled my pre-order on Amazon a couple of months ago. I don't have time to play on my PS3 at the moment. If I do, its for a quick game of footie on pro evo, but thats about it.

I do want to play it, but I think I will wait un xmas or until I can buy a pre-owned version for half the price

Yeah, I had thought the same myself, if I canny get it for free at x-mas then pick up a second-hander.... I have to say though, i'm more bothered about it now than I thought I would be. The whole delay thing really put me off, but now i'm half considering popping to Asda at lunch to grab me some....

I liked the last game (I have played them at friends' houses before) but I've never actually owned a copy. I love the attention to detail but apparently there's nothing really new in terms of features.

Oh yeah, I've loved the previous games. But since the last one came out, kids have arrived, so I now have much less PS3 time. With how massivly deep this game is, I don't think i'd even brush the surface of it.

All thats really 'new' about it is the new graphics made available by the PS3 platform. It not intended to be a gimmicky driving game in any way, so will just be the traditional straight racing format. No police chases or vehicular weapons....

Yeah, it's certainly a seriously simulator. I just think eventually it's just going to end up a bit stale really. But I'm just moaning and I haven't even played the new game; I'm basing all this on reviews/gameplay/videos like that. Enjoy the game.

Right, ok, played this for a few hours last night. Its good, very good, but its very much 'gran turismo'. If you have played one of the previous games, you'll know exactly what to expect, there is little change other than graphics! Having been playing Hot Pursuit this last week or so, GT is slow, very slow. Driving along at 90mph (in the crappy early cars) doesn't seem at all like 90.... The realism of car handling is bang on, but this will frustrate some. And I must stress, the slowness goes beyond the driving, the loading/saving times for everything takes ages! Example: You need to buy a new car and add a couple of minor mods before you race it, you need to budget 20 mins to do this....!

If you are looking for ultimate realism, look no further, but this is certainly no 'pick up and play' game; you will need to dedicate 100's of hours to it to get anywhere.

Yeah, I think this is something that has plagued most of the more recent instalments in the GT series. I remember it was the same on the last game as well. Not sure why.

I love your wife too...... :D

So, what do you think (GT5, not my comments about Mrs Duck)?

I played it more over the weekend and I gotta be honest, it kinda winds me up..... I think the 'realism' thing has been taken one step too far at the sacrifice of fun. Everything just seems sooooo slow.

NFS - Hot Pursuit is much more fun.

Its alright.....But it does take forever to do anything. I did the 30min install to hard drive and the 400mb of updates, which also took forever!

its not a game you can play if you have a spate 10mins
