Due to a serious technical issue with the server which hosts chrismoyles.net we have had to move the site to a new machine. For reasons of expediency the site has been restored from a backup rather than using the data held within the out-of-service machine. This has meant that a small number of forum posts have been lost which were entered after the daily backup ran.
As the site is on a new machine DNS changes needed to be made to allow you to find the new server. These changes are not propagated through the Internet instantaneously and so it's possible that for some people the site may take a little longer to reappear than for others. Depending on your ISP and local configuration it may also be possible that some areas of the site will continue to fail until everything catches up with itself.
Most things should now be working.
If you notice any strange issues, then please let me know via Private Message, email ([email protected]), or on Twitter (@c_hri_s).
For updates when bad things happen to the site follow @chrismoylesnet.
For anyone who doesn't regularly backup their material then please let this be a warning. Things break - usually when you don't want them to. Be sure you make regular backups, and test that those backups have worked. It's days like this that make me happy that we do just that
