Happy Christmas!
We have a web page which displays all the texts. It's a clever piece of software that shows an 'inbox' which is made up of SMS, MMS, e-mails, instant messaging and messages from the mobile site. Only SMS, MMS and the mobile site messages have been switched on though.
We get around 5,000 SMS to the show each day if we don't particularly ask for them. Last Thursday, with a lot of pushing it got to 60k.
BTW, while we're on the subject - we don't make any money from SMSs but because of the shortcode nature of them they do cost 10-15p which really bugs me. The messages from the mobile site come up in the same stream of texts as they would if they came from your mobile as SMS so I highly recommend you always send in your message from a smartphone using the Radio 1 mobile webapp.

I can only imagine how many thousands if not millions of text the show gets each day.
How does it all work. Sometimes on webcam you can see Chris reading texts from a sheet and sometimes he and the team read off screens.
So really my question is, how does a text go from arriving on the system to being read out on air!
(I coundn't have put that more geekily really!!)
Have a wondeful Christmas and a Happy New Year
You're all amazing
