Aled, have you ever broke down or got quite emotional, either on- or off-air, during the Surgery? It's a very powerful but important show and I enjoy listening. You're really great on it.

Is there any reason that the webcam goes down when a record is playing? If it's privacy or such like then fair enough, but if possible I'd love to see what happened in the studio while off air. Thanks Aled

They showed it on the AAA tour and they basically all get up and go to the toilet

Yeah, I think it's just because it's boring during records.

I beg to differ. I've seen aled dancing while records play.

Has Dom been banned from calling up local radio after the jimmy/barry white call? If so, that's a shame.

Aled, Is there a reason why basically all the competitions run by radio 1 are for over 18's only? There are some, like Go Karting for example which I understand the reasoning behind but for things like going to the cinema with the Chris Moyles Show Team or cm24 could it not be over 16's?

Over 18's are responsible for themselves.Under 18's (or the parents) are liable to sue if they lose the use of their elbows or something.I think, correct me if I'm wrong Aled.

In all fairness i do get what your saying as my company has strange rules about 16-17 year olds but I'd like to hear the actual BBC reason from Aled as i think that some people under 18 should be able to take part in these competitions

Christ bmstinton93! You're really not looking to win my best-friend of the year competition are you!?

You'd like to hear my response on two questions, 1) speak officially on behalf of the BBC in regards to why over 18's policy, and 2) where is the location of Radio 1's Big Weekend this year!

What exactly is your job and do you feel confident speaking on behalf of your employer? :)

All I can say is that if there's one person fighting the 18+ rule it's me - as is evident when we did the A Level party in Bristol a couple of years ago. Unfortunately it's not to be. For a simple mechanic as getting a few people in to see a radio show the complexity added in order to allow under 18 year olds is vast and is easily argued against by management - I know it's half term in SOME places - but it's not ALL so it's quite possible we're encouraging school / college students to skip school. Not cool.

As for 2)... really? You'd expect me to answer... :D

Lol! I may have had a difficult day in the office and your posts just looked like an opportunity to hang myself if I got the replies wrong! :)

All cool. You're only asking.

No seeing as you asked, the Big Weekend is in Cardiff this year.

Aled, did the entire team miss the caller using the F-word on the air on Monday's show? Not that I'm a Mail-reading maniac who gets upset by these things, just find it interesting from a production POV, I recall Chris and yourself were quick to apologise on-air when Nick Frost used the word "minge" the other day. :)

By the way, the link with Dave and Will admitting to Chris that the U2 appearance was a wind-up is on this site somewhere, if you're still thinking about using it on the air sometime this week, I know there was some idle comment about it earlier. If it's not in your archive, then it's in mine. :D I've just heard it back, it's very funny. Dave can't stop himself giggling.

Yes, somehow we all missed it. I heard him say "I forgot" a couple of seconds later which sounded similar so when the texts were flooded with 'did he just swear' I was confident that he didn't.

It was only when I went back and listened back did I hear his first swear word. We apologised once we realised he did swear.

We still complaints about Nick Frost's use of the word btw.
