I saw the Def Leppard movie that Chris mentioned years ago.
It truly is an appalling film. But so chock-a-block with anachronisms that it is essential viewing.

I have mentioned it to friends, & no-one i know was aware of its existence.
For years it has gnawed away at the edge of my consciousness, so faint but yet so annoying. I have asked myself if i actually dreamt it so awful are some of the accents & acting. Any searches for it on youtube or other similar sites resulted in bupkiss.
Strangely though, only this weekend on another website someone started a thread about music biopics & i mentioned it ( its Hysteria, The Def Leppard Story, by the way, not Armageddon , as Chris said. An easy mistake to make though). As a result for the first time in years i tried once again to look for it on Youtube & to my utter joy its on there in 9 x 10 minute parts. Spanish subtitled, but still there in all its 'greyhound buses driving down the wrong side of a Sheffield street' glory. And what about a road sign, barely 30 seconds into the film, that says ( & you'll be able to see for youself that i spake true);

So i'll let you enjoy for yourselves the first part of 'Hysteria the Def Leppard Story' & see how many howling anachronisms & borderline offensive stereotypes you can spot in the first 10 minutes ( Heres a clue: more than lots)

I absolutely love Def Lep in all their cheesy glory and I watched a very long Behind The Music show on them on Sky Arts a while ago that was similarly amusing, but I haven't seen this. I'm quite surprised Chris would talk about them on air as a very large part of his audience probably weren't even born in Def Leppard's heyday and were probably going "whoooooooo?"

I can't get over that he mentioned it just a day or so after it came walloping back onto my conciousness. I was working this morning ( i'm on nights this week, not long finished) when Chris metioned it on air & it literally stopped me in my tracks. I thought i hadn't heard right, it really spooked me.

Its like when , for no apparent reason, you suddenly remember a song or track that you haven't heard for years, not a particularly well known one like those that get played all the time on various 'gold' radio stations or TV ads, one one you liked from years before that you'd nearly forgotten that just pops back into your head. And its guaranteed that you'll hear it within the week on the radio or TV or someting. that happens to me reasonably often.

That happened to me with Safety Dance, Dave skated to it and then I heard it at least three more times in unrelated situations the following week. Also I heard three unrelated references to One Week by the Barenaked Ladies recently - one of which was a Moyles show from I think 2000 in which they talked about getting up on stage with the band to sing it at a gig!

Ah yes I remember that show, it's either 1999 or 2000 (not sure fully) from what I can remember they speak to Ed from BNL and then ask Melinda if he wants to join them on stage, to which he replies he wasn't and Moyles something along the lines of "oh well screw you then"

Oh no, "bubkes" does mean nothing, but "bupkiss" looks nasty to me! Some made up words are great, but that one is nasty.

They were loads better than Steps not as good as Spice Girls. Actually in the year 5 talent show we danced to S Club Party. I think it was year 5 anyway it might have been earlier.
