The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

This is purely a personal view & i'm not denigrating the work that that charity does. But all this Comic Relief stuff spoils the show. I suppose that its only every 2 years & i'm being a curmudgeon but the show works best when Chris goes off on a tangent or loses the rag & even though i do not doubt that any of the team feel very strongly about it ,there seems to be an unintentional evangelising tone that grates with the rest of the show. Its all very good how much has been raised but getting an update every hour is a bit of drag. Scott Mills is tedious enough in a radio studio but amazingly in a desert halfway around the world his appeal wanes even further. His phone calls have only been made tolerable by the surprisingly funny Lorraine Kelly & Dermot O'Leary. Craig David , as suspected, has not much to say & what he does have to say isn't worth listening to. And Olly Murs was intensely annoying like a cut price Joe Swash. Maybe its because none of the team are doing anything big for Comic Relief ( at least not yet) & bring that personal experience that the likes of Chris, Dave, Aled or Dom can turn to comedy gold that it isn't gelling for me yet.

All in all i can't wait for the show to get back to its normal mayhem.
I know i'll get ripped to pieces for this uncharitable view & maybe deservedly so, but all i can say is that it is at least an honest opinion.Sorry.

Am i a lone nasty voice or does anyone agree?

Yes I have to say I agree, its a great cause and I hope to make a contribution to Comic Relief hopefully with work doing something which they usually do. But it goes on a bit and I have to tune away for the duration, good on Scott Mills for doing this, but he is tedious thats why I never listen to him. And just a side note to say the Craig David impession Chris keeps on doing, not funny anymore not sure it ever was, maybe 5 years ago, if I was Craig I would punch him out too.

I like the Craig David impression. For the same reasons I like Chris' impresion of Jayne, or similar. The whole point being that it is nothing like the person in real life.

I'm sure Craig isn't missing any sleep over it.

Bo Selecta needs to come back just to parody this desert trek alone. Our Kes in the desert, ha.

To be fair to the team, they've tried to bring entertainment to the 8.00 - 8.30 area of the show. Like when Scott came into the studio before he went, the Craaaiig David impression saved the whole thing, Scott seemed determined to be as dull as possible, just about managing to ask listeners to donate. Just like with Bo Selecta's parody of T4, it always feels like you're having to yell "WAKE UP, JUNE!" when Scott's around. Overall, charity must be the winner, and so it is, so I'm not that fussed either way.

I listened to a bit of today's show from around 8:30 or so and it did seem like they were really pushing the whole Comic Relief thing, which they have to do anyway. It was the same thing last year as well with the whole bike journey. I haven't listened to the calls they had this week so don't know how they have gone on but will be when working through the weekend on nights. I personally don't mind it as there have been things on the show since I started listening that have been worse. The main problem I have with this thing that is pretty much related to most charities in that does the entire money fund actually make its way over there. I feel that the money gets cut so many times along the way that the African people get tuppence when all is said and done and just makes me sick if that is the case.

It's not the best radio, but it has to be done and it's raising a crap load of money. It might just be that I'm not particularly fond of any of the people doing the trek, let alone when they're miserable and tired in a desert, but they're doing more than I've ever done for charity (and probably you too), so I won't knock them.

The amount of money being raised more than justifies the fact that it might not be as fun radio as usual, but then it's not meant to be. It's meant to raise money, and it's doing just that. It's safe to say that the rest of the show is by no means suffering from a link given over to the trek. Cardboard cutout Dave is proof of that.

When Chris did the Kilimanjaro climb, we were pretty much all loving listening to his progress on here - and the fans of Scott Mills are probably both enjoying his bit for charity too... as Gaspode says, it's a few days out of the year.

I would prefer if it was just Chris and team messing about all the time, but these things have to, nay should be done.5 quid to save a childs sight is ridiculous, get it plugged to death.

Agreed,It's just not at all interesting and Dermott O'leary must be the most boring person on earth.

thought i'd bump this up. And have a little rant.

Comic relief. Great cause. Shit radio. The title of this thread.

Basically looking at the thread. A scott mills bashing on here for a week.

Less than a week later. We have a 4 page thread. And my suggestions thread. All positive. I've only looked at this thread today.

Anyone on here now think comic relief. Great cause is shit radio.

You can try, but you'll be here a while.
