This is purely a personal view & i'm not denigrating the work that that charity does. But all this Comic Relief stuff spoils the show. I suppose that its only every 2 years & i'm being a curmudgeon but the show works best when Chris goes off on a tangent or loses the rag & even though i do not doubt that any of the team feel very strongly about it ,there seems to be an unintentional evangelising tone that grates with the rest of the show. Its all very good how much has been raised but getting an update every hour is a bit of drag. Scott Mills is tedious enough in a radio studio but amazingly in a desert halfway around the world his appeal wanes even further. His phone calls have only been made tolerable by the surprisingly funny Lorraine Kelly & Dermot O'Leary. Craig David , as suspected, has not much to say & what he does have to say isn't worth listening to. And Olly Murs was intensely annoying like a cut price Joe Swash. Maybe its because none of the team are doing anything big for Comic Relief ( at least not yet) & bring that personal experience that the likes of Chris, Dave, Aled or Dom can turn to comedy gold that it isn't gelling for me yet.
All in all i can't wait for the show to get back to its normal mayhem.
I know i'll get ripped to pieces for this uncharitable view & maybe deservedly so, but all i can say is that it is at least an honest opinion.Sorry.
Am i a lone nasty voice or does anyone agree?
