Another thing, can you sort out spoilers on the programme listing again please? Things like:

Celebrity Raspberry with Tiffany in Oxford who correctly guesses Cat Deeley! Yay!

We have the Comic Relief total which has gone up almost 70,000.

I want to skip through it but don't want these various things spoiling for me.

Hi Aled

I've just discovered this forum and this is my first post on this site! :) I am a HUGE fan of yours and I think you are an amazing person and producer! :)

I would like to know who do you get on with the most out of Chris, Dave, Dom and Tina, and do you like olives? :D

Good point. This is something that creeps in every now and then. I've sent a fresh email today.

Hiya! And thank you :)

I'd say I get on best with Chris - as I've now worked with him for so long. That aside I'd say Sam - I think she's wicked and we get on really well.

Al, you do realise that you have just started the rumours about how you secretly hate Dave, Dom and Tina don't you?!

Have you not been working with Dave for the same length of time as Chris?

Yes. I love working with Dave - he grounds the show in so many ways. In a way you wouldn't expect (as he's one of the main on-air voice) Dave has a considerable effect on the behind the scenes of the show, the writing and a lot of the style of the show comes from Dave.

But inevitably the barometer of whether you're doing well or not as a producer is your relationship with Chris, for obvious reasons then most of my working life is spent working with Chris and understanding what he wants and needs from me, and what I can do to make the show a success - the time I've spent working with Chris and Dave may be the same in actual length but in reality I've worked closer with Chris.

The best way to describe it is to think of us as a family. There's obviously an underlying feeling that we all care for each other - but any of the niceties have LONG gone so we can argue like brother and sister. That's not confined to on-air either I've argued with everyone on the show at some point off-air, it's just with Chris it's on air.

For the record I obviously hate it when he kicks me out of the studio because it means I can't do my job that I'm paid to do - but Chris knows that which is why if we're arguing he'll kick me out :)

Haha, if you REALLY want to know it's 'where's Dom and Tina?' They tend to walk in during the 60 seconds at 6:25 and that always makes me nervous in case we find a technical problem which has cropped up since our checks at 6am.

My thought process are:

"Where's Dom and Tina - are they on their way through"
"Is Chris here yet? If not, where is he and will he make 6:33" (I'll check Google Latitude to see)
"Have I finished setting the studio up correctly?" I'll then do a quick run through of all the settings of the mic and desk, and check everything's in order - the scipts and reads, my laptop has logged in correctly, the NOW albums and TV Theme tune CDs are in place, the papers at the back of the studio are laid out, that Chris has a music script, some blank paper, a yellow running order and a pen (in fact that Chris, Dave and myself all have a pen and an extra one to hand because Dom and Tina will ALWAYS find the need for one during the show), that the pop-shield on the mic has been changed to Chris' personal one and that I've logged in to Chris' text console so he can walk straight in and open the mic.
And then I'll always snoop at Dev's music to see whether they're likely to be on time with their back timings.
I then stand there and prepare for whatever is thrown at me over the next couple of minutes :)

Aled, following on from the 6.25 question, what is going through your mind following the immediate end of the show? Do you have a post-show meeting everyday and what's their typical structure?

Clearly being sycophantic works so I love you lots and lots like jelly tots

aled. I think you missed my post 3 or 4 pages back.
My questions
>we all gather that chris is late when the news is at 6.30ish. at what time does the decision made to switch the news from 6.26 to 6.30 when chris is late.
>has there been a time when chris is in the studio. But wants extra time. So allows the news at 6.30. Ala when dom was off. So chris gave tina the protection of not having too hit the pips
>who makes the decision to move the news. Is it you or reece

Lol, it's normally 'how long till bed?' - I seem to crash badly at 10am for about half an hour.

We used to have a meeting with everyone every day but it got a little out of hand with a cast of people that got bigger and bigger - it made the meeting difficult to manage. So we've trimmed it back to the team Monday - Thursday with a full meeting on Fridays to talk about the two weeks coming up.

After the show we'll write the blog for the Radio 1 website with what everyone's up to during that day. Then talk through the next day's show. Sam and I then talk to Chris about guest bids and production ideas we've got coming up.

Sycophantic behaviour does work and should be rewarded :D

I'm kinda seeing why I didn't reply - not sure I understand the question. But I'll give it a shot.

The decision to move the start time happens when Chris asks for it. Could be early doors if no taxi has turned up, or late if there's roadworks and they're delayed unexpectedly.

There's been once I think that Dev's requested a late start because he missed his 6:26 start time, and I think I've asked for it once because of technical problems - but I can't be sure.

I instigate it and check with Dom n Tina and Dev n Phil. I'm not too sure what I'd do if one of them said no!
