Great idea! Or put it on the Radio 1 website.

I will try again for you. However, the last time we streamed the show we weren't allowed. It's to do with the fact that the BBC is very powerful and it's very political. We can't just go and do new things willy-nilly without it going through the BBC Trust and them doing things like testing to see if it would distort or damage the Market etc.

Making TV shows out of radio shows and putting them online to make a bonus TV channel was considered a new service last time - which we can't do. However, I will ask again now that theres been so much more interactivity of late. It's worth seeing if the lines have blurred enough to allow it to happen.

I would love too get the video footage of it all. as i will be in work, unable too watch it all. it would be good for me too be able too watch it all back...

Also aled. How much support have you had from fellow producers for the 37 hour marathon...

Sam and I will be hands on producing the breakfast shows during the marathon show and project leaders for the hours outside our shows. We will coordinate any threads that last throughout and help ensure that Chris and Dave like what is being planned and make sure it all goes smoothly. We won't be 'producing' their shows though. So editorial control and content decisions will be made by the producers on those programme teams.

Sam will also be producing the Chris and Dave late night shows - and I'll go in to help (I've got a hotel across the road to allow me to be there as much as possible).

Early doors the two sets of shows thats well worth looking out for are Dev and Grimmy. Both are planning so great stuff for Chris and Dave.

I enjoyed reading over the last few days Q&A's just now. Interesting stuff.

Aled, what format will the shows (not 06:30-10:00) take during the 37hr stint? The shows are from Chris' studio, and the likes of Greg, Fearne, Scott etc will be coming to him, but will it actually be their show or is it basically being taken over by Chris and Dave? Will the other shows have their usual features and identity etc?

You said that the other producers will make editorial and content decisions, but as Chris has to introduce every song it seems difficult for the usual DJ to remain in charge and for the show to remain 'theirs'. It seems almost as if the regular DJ may in effect become the 'guest'! It's going to be interesting to see how a balance is struck.

On twitter you just said this is the biggest thing you have worked on, and thinking about some of the stuff done on the Moyles show that is saying a lot!

I'm really looking forward to this, it should be great stuff.

Geeky question, out of interest. How do you get clips so quickly, such as using the clips Chris and Cross this morning? Is everything recorded in the studio for uses like that or as with the 'Hello I'm listening' debacle? Also, is everything multitracked for use at any point or do you just use stereo recordings? I ask because I used to do a lot of audio/multitracking work and I'm curious how you'd do it in a big professional setting.

THANKS :D

eh? Where is this from?

Aled, when the longest show idea first came up how likely did you think it was to happen? How much politics/red tape was there? Does saying that its for Comic Relief help at all or is that factor ignored by management, health & safety, compliance etc.?

This is proper geek stuff... but technically it's a new show 'BBC Radio 1's Longest Show Ever... with Chris Moyles and Comedy Dave -and presenter - for Comic Relief. With new imaging but maintaining the features of the shows we're inhabiting - at least as a basis.

Travis Bickle wrote:You said that the other producers will make editorial and content decisions, but as Chris has to introduce every song it seems difficult for the usual DJ to remain in charge and for the show to remain 'theirs'. The presenter WILL be a guest on the show hosted by Chris and Dave - but it's going to be the presenter introducing Chris and Dave to their show, their features and their musical genre - think Mista Jam, Benji B or Grimmy etc

The producer of that show will have editorial control. Having me, Sam and Matt producing will mean complete breakfast take-over which no-one wants because we'd have no idea of how the show works so the presenter would almost become irrelevant if that happened. Plus, you can't expect us to make editorial decisions if we're knackered.

It REALLY is. The birthday show was even bigger than the AAA tour, but this beats all of those combined. We're looking at simulcasting with other parts of the BBC, live unit teams, a dozen programme teams, online takeover, new imaging, TV crews (we're technically broadcasting one of BBC TV's longest ever shows too - as well as Radio's longest ever), as well as the usual breakfast shows - with a couple of surprises that we will be revealing at the start of the show.

Haha, proper geek zone now!!

Radio 1 and 1Xtra has an ROT and a mic-ROT being created on a hard disc so we just dip into that stick it in an audio editor and squirt it into the schedule to play it back within seconds.

Do you remember back in September, Sam and I took Chris and Dave out for a pub lunch where we wanted to run some ideas past them. There were two ideas which Chris and Dave approved.

The first (my idea) was the show broadcast from a perspex box for a week which travelled around the UK - which came very close to happening but then changed into the AAA tour in theatres due to budget constraints.

The second (Sam's idea) was the marathon show which is being rolled out now - it came up following achieving the Radio 1's Longest breakfast show ever - lets try to get Radio 1's Longest SHOW ever.

Perspex box would've been amazing. Imagine seeing that rolling down the motorway while you're listening? Reminds me of when U2 rolled through Times Square performing on the back of a lorry.

What ideas got rejected that you liked?

I read you post or tweet (can't remember) about a social display for the marathon show. Is there gonna be a hashtag kinda thing going on, have you decided on one? I've seen you use a few different ones in the last few weeks when talking about the show. If it's that interactive, it's going to be great. A good way to pilot a tweet to the studio system too :P

Or it could be like that box on the right that was on the 24 hour panel show where people sent messages in?
