"Greg James to take over Chris Moyles Breakfast Show
Greg James has been picked to take over The Chris Moyles Breakfast Show when Moylesy decides it’s time to hang up the mic.
The decision was made by bosses at the Beeb as they reckon they need groovy, cool kids like Greg at the helm of Radio One and not old 30 something grandpas like Chris:
‘Greg is the future of Radio One. He’s in his 20s, cool and a star on the rise’ a BBC source told The News of the World. ‘We are well aware Chris is a huge star but we have to look to the future because someone who is nearly 40 can’t really be hosting a show aimed at teenagers’.
The news will come as a shock to Scott Mills fans as it seemed for a long time, Scott would be Moyles’ natural replacement:
“Unfortunately for Scott, he’s just too old to get the breakfast gig now because the station is meant to be targeting teenagers and people under 24” continued the big gob BBC insider which means that at 25, unfortunately Greg does not quite meet the Radio One listener requirements. Though, we can see what he means, Scott is a frankly ancient 36…
However, Moyles fans rest assured the switchover won’t be for a while:
“Greg is most definitely the heir apparent and it means we will have to have a discussion with Chris about how long he will be willing to stay on for. We are going to be careful not to force Chris out before Greg is ready.’
Back in in 2005 Greg Milward won Best Male at The Student Radio Awards before he was spotted by BBC bosses and rebranded as Greg James. Impressively, Greg is the only DJ ever to go straight from student radio to national. "
