The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Managed to catch everything bar about half an hour at around 8 last night and half an hour at 4ish this morning. Listening now online without the pictures and it's like I'm missing loads. It's amazing how watching radio on the telly is so engrossing.

Thanks to this thread, I have a fair idea of the kind of stuff I missed through the night as well as yesterday evening when I switched to the football (the Celtic game that wasn't on telly rather than the Champions League otherwise I'd have watched AND listened to the show at the same time). So thanks to those of you who have been posting here, appreciate it! Even if others don't think it belongs here!

My missus thinks I'm obsessed again. The man crush has returned apparently. She's probably right, I can't think of a better explanation.

I'd love to know what Radio 1's listener figures are like through all this. I'd imagine there's a significant boost with the breakfast audience listening longer than usual, but also a second boost with people interested in the challenge that wouldn't normally be.

Been texting every hour since they hit half way at half 7 this morning. Not much currently, but should build up as they go. I figured they'd need the boost of the news of the money raised in the second half of the challenge rather than the first. But the money they've had so far is amazing, so if I'm not the only one doing this then they're going to finish with a phenomenal total.

4 points from this...

I like listening too scott. But it does kinda put everything in too prespective. Scott's desert treck too chris's marathon show. I'm sure chris has already matched the total that scott made...
How many listeners and viewers did chris have at 1:30 this morning. I was watching and aled said they had too close the phone lines because it was a full board and didn't have the man power...
I think even the half 1 viewers with andy in the studio. It must be a nice bargining tool for his new contract.
Can Chris get too a Million quid...?????

I think yes.

Re: James' post above, has anyone posted a full list of the official rules for the challenge, or have they even been broadcast? I'm sure I read somewhere that they cannot play more than 2 songs in a row and no song can be more than 6 minutes long? Are there any other rules?

No... If Aled's had any time to read this, maybe he could post them?

I heard them say (and read on the net) that both presenters had to speak at least once a minute, and also that either Chris or Dave had to drive the desk, but they have broken both of these, so who knows...

Maybe they are going a bit easier on them - it seems they just have to be there and speaking in every link, unless they are taking a break

I doubt Radio 1 care all that much, but if Guinness are going to certify it, it has to abide by their exact rules.

Mind you, I don't really care, what they're doing is awesome, but it would be a pity for them to miss out on the world record because of some silly technicality.

I don't mind the first three of those tracks, but they're wearing me down now!

It's not just you, although the ironic thing is there's an interview with someone who deals with the music schedule at R1 and they say they try to avoid repeating in the playlist!

Nigel guides us round the systems he uses at Radio 1 to schedule playlists. Using scheduling software he can make sure that genres and tracks are spread out well across the day.

This is how Nigel avoids playing one track repeatedly on the same day, or playing the same track at the same time on different days.

Don't forget Jessie J! If I hear Price Tag one more time it'll be too soon...
