The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Nightingale, Westwood and Tong are the specialist DJs, like Peel, which is why they stay on the air.

People like Moyles are the day DJs and have to be young to fit in with the day schedule. This is why people like Bates (who now does a very excellent show on Smooth), Juste, DLT, Brookes, people like that did not have their contract renewed at Radio 1 whilst Peel did, for quite a long time, up until his very untimely death in 2004.

Moyles is still very good, but he can't stay for, say, 20 years like DLT, Bates, Juste, Brookes etc did.

Chris won't be there for 20 years. I think when he does his 10th year on the Breakfast show then he will quit. Having the longest show in terms of length (the marathon show)and then being the longest serving breakfast dj. Will be enough for him. 10 years will be hard to beat and i don't think that anyone will stupidly go for the marathon show again as long as Chris is there. So going out on top is the best way to go.

Can't wait it see/hear what is going to happen here on out but i am glad that Chis will be at the helm.

Fantastic! I think Chris has done a fantastic job over the years ,and I find it amazing that him and his team are finding new ways all the time to keep the show entertaining.

When they do go, whenever that time comes they will go out on a high. Chris has good relations with most of R1 management despite the rants, also they know at this current time if he leaves then Capital will snap him up causing the R1 breakfast show to have a massive drop in listeners no matter who they replace him with.

I'm sure he's said before he'd like to do ten years and it seems a definite possibility now (not always been the case) and probably by then Capital will be allowed to network breakfast/drive so as you say they might (despite what Ashley Tabor says) snap him up.

Given the Radio 1 management's penchent for knocking people off when they get older, it's brilliant news and it makes the record for the longest running breakfast show - even if it ended tomorrow - all the more remarkable. I really hope he does the 10 years and now I have a feeling he may (funny The Sun didn't mention their infamous front page of a couple of years back when they reported on this).

Who was that idiot who was slagging Dave off?
I think the show is poorer when either Chris, Dave or Dom is missing.

Glad to hear the (possible) good news.
There's no-one at Radio 1 currently to replace Chris.

And I'm not saying that just to back Chris.
I listened to the likes of Greg, Scott, Grimmy because of the marathon show, and even though they have their good points, Greg and Grimmy just seem to lack the personality, and Scott plays way, way, way too much music!

And all this talk about age is also nonsense.
Typical committee thinking.

But nice as he is, and self effacing as he is, Olly's a bit tiresome. I don't think he completely gets it either, everything's amazing, everything's hilarious, everything's just a smidge too corporate (but record company type corporate).

He's got a lot of potential though.

With the best will in the world, Olly is a product of the Simon Cowell Pop-Star Factory - he isn't corporate so much as pre-programmed. I still like him though.

That's brilliant news if it's true :D I'm disappointed with The Scum though - only "motormouth"? No "roly-poly"? No "tubby"? They are losing their touch.

Incidentally I think Dave is funny. But then Dom was voted the most annoying member of the team, and he is my personal favourite out of all of them.

Sat and today are up
