Awful, crappy 1xtra takeover, are 1xtra on Radio 1 because everybody is off for the day at Radio 1!!! I think I'll pass, as always another bank holiday fail on Radio 1. Plenty of better things to do then bother with that crap. The Royal wedding day slightly better after 1.30 till 4pm and thats about it really. Too be honest I think ill skip it all and just come back when Chris is back and normal services resume.

Aled has posted that Chris and the team are doing the show on the Royal Wedding day - apparently it was Chris's choice to do so. I'm not surprised, he's met both William and Harry and they are both regular listeners - I'm not surprised that Chris would want to do the show on William's big day.

I'll be working as usual on the bank hols, so it's no odds to me really, but I am a bit surprised that there's no Mistajam in the 1Extra takeover - I would've thought after the marathon show he'd be a popular choice.

That's good to know they will be doing the show on the 29th then since it will be a good start to my birthday (yep, my birthday is the same day as the Royal Wedding). Will be working into it but will be off for a week after that so all is good.

Looks like Good Friday morning and Monday morning is out for me then. Will probably just listen to podcasts or something duriing those times while I am in work.

Presumably with Claire (eurgh) Balding as well.

Oh no.

Cotton: "Oh, I love the dress. I love her shoes. I love the venue. I just love this wedding day. I love everything".

I suspect that's kind of the point.

There's no point in blowing the years budget on incredible shows that blow people's socks clean off, because most people will be switching off the radio and doing something less boring instead.

Though I may be entirely wrong, obviously.

Does no-one else have a massive program with 1xtra taking over Radio 1 for a whole day? So all pop, rock/indie and dance music gets told to take a hike? I'm not opposed to 1xtra as a station, but I am opposed to it being a direct feeder station for Radio 1. Music tastes are supposed to come and go, but 1xtra just keeps than conveyor belt rolling in. No wonder the music scene is as stale as it is with the most popular and important young person's music station in the country getting half it's playlist automatically generated.
