there is a new member called deMon

i asked who he was...? he didn't say. he says he's a DJ for GWR

deMon wrote:Hello,

N/W means I don't only broadcast to GWR Bristol, I broadcast on the GWR NetWork. Now that should give you some clues.

NO I'M NOT Tony!!!

So are you from Bristol?

deMon wrote:Oh, and the reason I can't tell you who I am is because I'm not allowed. GWR rules. I've given you enough clues though!

Cheers, deMon

Is GWR by any chance that company that owns loads of local radio stations like Capital and my local radio station (Everlast might know this one) Horizon (which I can't stand, it really is crap.)

yes, GWR owns loads of local stations including horizon but I don't think capital. It owns Chiltern (luton 97.6 and Chiltern Bedford 96.9 which are in your area too)

I've heard of them ones. I used to listen to Horizon. It was like 10 minutes of ads, followed by Boyzone, followed by shite DJs rambling on about nothing, thinking they were funny. I hate commercial radio!

british comercial radio is bad in a whole new way. i like it better than bad american comercial radio, most likely because of the kitsch involved. you don't know how good you have it.

Bridgie, Horizon is basicallyexactly the same as Chiltern that we get here in Flitwick, its just rebranded with Horizon jingles and the ads are more Mk based, rather than Bedford/luton

GWR are one of the large companies that own commercial stations, such as Capital Radio, Scottish Radio Holdings, etc.

That's the other problem with these stations - they're not individual enough to suit the area. They always (used to, anyway) have the DJ going on about "Today's better mix" or whatever, but you never actually heard the station name till they played a jingle (there must be someone in a building at each station ready for when that happens). So you're getting exactly the same radio as a scouser, but with MK jingles. What a con.

And, probably for that reason, they don't promote local bands enough, which, IMO, should be the sole purpose of a local radio station.

I think that's the one he went out with when he worked on Horizon.

Exactly, But Horizon and Chiltern did bring us Chris Moyles at one point so its not ALL bad. Just 99.9% of the time, and , Chris wasn't even that good back then even!
