Gutted for Dave and Jayne, glad they are on good terms, for Nicole's sake if nothing else.

God NO. I know Chris is only 4 years older than me. I am 33 in June. In my head i am still in my late 20s so I can identify with Chris not wanting to settle down just yet.

Sounds to me as though setting down and living with a partner isn't the problem, it's having kids that's the issue. Chris has always made the joke about rather having an iPod, always got the feeling he wasn't joking and that he was just adding a bit of humour to his real-life feelings.

As for Dave and Jayne, who knows. I know if I still got on well with my wife and there was no-one else involved and we had a young child, I'd stick it out for a few more years for the sake of the kid. But that's not really fair on them, those are just my feelings as a child from a broken family.

See that comment strikes a chord in me. I do sometimes wonder, when couples who are separating talk about how they are such great friends, and on such good terms - well what is it exactly that you WANT from a marriage then?

Mr Yudster's older brother recently left his wife and three children (the youngest only 6 months old) for reasons no-one is quite sure of, and its fair to say that thanks to his subsequent behaviour they aren't on good terms right now - but the thing that upsets his wife more than anything else is that somewhere along the line she has lost her best friend. Its not romance, or sex, or passion that she misses, its the trust and comfort of being with someone who knows you better than anyone in the world, the person you have shared the most important bits of your life with - personally I would call that love. But its unfair to draw conclusions about anyone else's situation when you only have the teeniest insight into it.

I think Dave did the dirty and they are putting a brave face on for Nicole.

He was punching well above his weight anyway

I agree with this, I mean if a couple are constantly at loggerheads then a seperation is inevitable, but if they are good friends, then any other problems can be sorted out given time and patience. As someone who is divorced, it just strikes me as very strange that two people can seemingly be such good friends, and seemingly such good parents, yet can't sort out any difficiencies in their marriage. As long as their child doesn't suffer, or witness horrific arguements, then it makes no difference.

To add my input from personal experience, as a child of two parents who stayed together for the sake of the kids (split as soon as my younger sis went to Uni).... Whilst I agree when the child is younger, I now look back and wish they hadn't stayed together for us kids, as their lives could have been so much more now.

There's no point in staying together for the sake of the kids because all you will do there is generate resentment and make the kids ultimately feel guilty. There is however, I think, a very good case to be made for making it work for the sake of the kids. Not the same thing at all.

Oh, I don't feel guilty, not my decision. Just think its a shame for them.

You are right about the difference you highlight though.

Most married women wouldn't let their man even glance at another women, yet Dave while on DOI must have at least felt like a kid in a candy store, especially while having his hand up some bimbos skirt (the pics of the semi were widely publicsed at the time - thanks bstanton83 for the reminder lol). Who knows what went on behind the scenes and once a guy or woman has a taste elsewhere its often impossible to go back to what you had before - talking from experience. Every human is liable to stray - man, woman, straight, gay, nobodies, royals, minor celebs. Not the first and won't be the last.

Im sure with hindsight he may be glad its all in the open and not hushed up like divorce No 1. Of course the story now will be 'who from DOI is he knocking off'

Eh? How exactly do you think we married women go about stopping them? Blindfolds and leg restraints?!

Its not easy though, you have to have 2 unselfish adults involved, and realistically these days that hardly ever happens does it. Still, as a friend of mine whose parents separated when he was small says - its far better to come from a broken home than to live in one.

I understand that as regular listeners we might feel like we know Dave and so naturally wonder why they've broken up, but it seems a bit unfair to speculate about who's been straying with whom.

I think it's unfair to say either of them cheated- some people just fall outta love. That's probs what happened here, or at least is what we should assume untill we know for sure.

How dreadful for their daughter.

They say they are going to stay friends now. But wait til the divorce gets sticky and other partners are involved etc. Then we'll see how friendly they are.

Like others have said - the woman was way out vitty's league anyway. I don't understand men who can't see that.

In what way? intellectually or was she a supermodel? or both? you only have to see recent stories that people aren't just attracted by looks. they may have other 'assets'... look at the guy with the playboy empire. those girls sure aren't in it for looks!

Those girls are in it for the money though.

I disagree. Jayne is very good looking but if I was female then I would definitely find Dave quite attractive... :-P

What I find particularly odd is how well Dave is taking the divorce on air. He was notoriously hard hit by the first divorce on air, but this time around he's sounding positively jolly on air. Now, you'd have to think that he's got a lot more to loose this time around financially then he did last, just due to the amount wealth he's earned since he's been married to Jayne (his gigs, BBC pay, Dancing on Ice, ect.). He's surely set to loose his house in the Chilterns too.

Thinking of the reasons behind the divorce, I'm sure on Twitter Jayne said that she really didn't like one of the women on Dancing on Ice. When there was an eviction she'd sometimes allude to this (it was one of the blondes I think, maybe the one of kids TV?). I now wonder whether this has something to do with the break up... :?

Get the feeling Chris wants to do so many 'Dave's weddings' jokes at this time, but has to hold back for obvious reasons.
