The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Don't know if I am alone on this but is anyone getting a bit tired of the constant restarts on Carpark Catchphrase? Like the two guys in question have been on for 2 weeks now tomorrow and I remember this happened last year where a girl and guy were on for around that time also. It's 1-1 but more like 7-7 or something like that with them always buzzing the timer etc.

I have nothing against Marc and Jack now since there have been far worse contestants on but I think a week at most (with the same two contestants I mean) is probably the best time length but anything longer is kind of outstaying their welcome. I assume Chris likes them or whatnot and thus keeps them on but what's the point in registering for Carpark Catchphrase if you're keeping the same two contestants on for ages.

I never hear it cos I'm always at work, but it does surprise me that given the BBC competition paranoia they'll allow people to register when there's no real chance of them getting on. I know they don't win anything, but still.

I think the CPC rules are explained when registering, that Chris basically does what he wants....

But I do agree with the timescale thingy.

I'm not getting tired of it at all, I think it's funny. And they're not outstaying their welcome if they're being kept on. Obviously.

I'd also suggest that they're not inviting people to register, or are taking their names for the next opportunity.

It wouldn't really matter to me if they have ten different contestants each day or two per year.

I thought the same as you this morning. I'm getting a bit tired of them now, this should be their final week. As has been said I think its due to a lack of people registering. I hope that changes as otherwise I could see it being scrapped completely.

I don't actually mind if they keep one person on for a long stint though. Hollie from Halstead last summer was one of the most memorable and entertaining contestants they've ever had.

I am guessing like someone said they don't have enough people registered to take part so they are keeping it going as long as they can.

What is the point of it ?

I'd imagine the point of it is that it's a three or four minute light hearted diversion.

Are you actually serious that two people you hear for about 10 seconds make you turn off something you love?

Really?

I never end up listening to that part of the show live and on the iPlayer I never listen to it. I just find it a little boring; I prefer the banter/chat between the team instead.

I guess I'm the only one who thinks Dave's delicious set-pieces are things of rare beauty then.

The contestants barely register, never-mind annoy me enough to make me switch over.

The Roy-isms are ace as well.

Hmm, I don't mind the fact that they've been on for a wee while.

I suppose it would be an interesting question to Aled about the volume of entries they get for CPC. I'd hate to think they might end up retiring it again if they don't get enough people registering.

Yes really. Do you have a problem with my opinion ?

I get bored with repetitive stuff, this is a prime example. Same 2 blokes everyday. The same as I turn off before Ferne shouts her Morningggggggggggg !!!!! Hope that does not shock you.

simonpearce wrote:Agreed - it's getting silly now.

I also used to get angry when they'd start so late and talk so much they'd only just squeeze in one catchphrase :(

jamiec21 wrote:With the same two people it just gets boring. Boot one (or preferably) both) of them off.

Or just do it properly ;)

And where have the funny/stupid contestants gone ? :(

I have not read in any of the post's that the thread is to moan about Roy's banter and Dave writing ? It's about the same 2 contestant's being on for as long as they have !

You know you can quote more than one person in one post? It's a lot easier than making three separate consecutive posts.

I'm surprised this has gone on so long, I thought the whole point of having the balloon guy on was to make puns about his job, but they seem to have dried up so get rid of him, he's a bit of a dullard.

I'm sure he'll feel deflated.

I don't have a problem, I just find it hard to believe that you or anyone else no longer listens to a part of the show you say you love because the contestants, who contribute practically nothing to the feature, have been on a couple of days.

Not trying to be ignorant but a couple of days is alright now while these guys have been on what will be their 8th day together today. And like Ilovematt said, no one on here complained about the writing or Roy's songs and that whatsoever! I usually enjoy the feature but getting repetitive restarting every day in the last two weeks and just going through the motions with Marc and Jack at this point. It probably is lack of registering if they've been on this long and if not, might be what I said at the top.

They'll be off when the team is able to do Carpark Catchphrase at 9:40...I also think it's starting to get annoying, to have the same two contestants on for over a week and a half.
