Jesus wept.....Does it really matter? Unless any of you lot are on the waiting list of course
And to say that you turn the radio off because there's a 5 minute segment you don't like!!!! Oh my life, sort yourselves out!

I also think The Golden Hour is a pile of crap -- the same bloody songs on a 10 week rotation. I fast forward through the whole thing.

In other words, "Who cares what I think?"

This.

That's all very well and in the context of life's great questions like "can I pay my bills this month?" and "will I die alone?", of course it doesn't matter. But let's face it, this is a forum about the Chris Moyles Show and as such many of the topics here delve into the minutaie (sp?) of that show, most of which don't matter in the grand scheme of things. Surely the point of the forum's existence is that people can air their views about these topics.

As long as that view is pre-approved with Yudster.

I completely agree, but I'd like to reserve the right to have a go back, when people use words that suggest 'we' all think something is annoying or has got boring or write as though they're representative of more than just themselves..

It always seems to me that negatives are more forceful than positives, and that people who read those negatives will take them more seriously if they're not challenged.

Oh, and it's Minutiæ ;)

Oh, totally. I think debate is an important part of the forum. These are just my opinions as a forum user, rather than a moderator. Oh and thanks for the spelling correction, I had a total mental block on that word :)

How about we start complaining about the repetition of the Golden Hour instead now? It's making me want to stave my head in.

true. I've been listening to the Golden Hour since August and I've lost the count of how many times they've played DB Boulevard, The Cardigans, etc. since then.

Here is how bad the golden hour has become, since returning after christmas, Chris has done 9 years, yes only chosen 9 years in 5 months, the years between 1995 to 2003. Thats rubbish. This item has to finish its a joke.

I know they're not allowed to go further back than 1990 - Aled has graciously addressed the question more than once in the Ask Aled section. But there must be more songs from these years, surely? When Chris said at the beginning of this morning's hour "there are some random songs in there, songs you won't have heard since the year they came out" I was cynical, and sure enough they were all ones he seemingly plays every time he rolls that year out. I hate to be a naysayer, but I do feel that if there's no possibility of doing pre-1990 years then it's time for a change of format (as Duck suggested) or maybe to retire the feature altogether.

I wouldn't mind a change in format as well, especially for the first half. I'm not against them playing old songs for an hour, just wish it wasn't cheesy, wacky DJ shite. I'll accept the "it's ironic" reason, but ironic material quickly, quickly gets very tedious -"everybody, sing along, yeah!, you know you love it!". And just to be not totally negative, I do like the team picking a song each, that has far more potential for imaginative choices (see Aled picking Let It Be from 1969, for a great example). But the first half, with a limited amount of years to pick from, it's bound to get repetitive if it's just Chris picking the songs - not really his fault, if I had to pick the best 25 songs from 1996 every few months then I'd repeat myself and I imagine most people would. I'd go along with the earlier idea dumping the first half of guess the year (which Dave always gets right anyway) and choosing half an hour of old songs round certain themes.

I always assumed with the Golden Hour, and also Tedious Link, that they're only allowed to play certain songs. They must have played the same song umpteen times on Tedious Link over the years! Personally I quite like the Golden Hour, but then I don't listen that often, and even when I do its rarely for that long.

And going back to CPC - I feel a bit bad for suggesting that it was due to a lack of callers that Jack and Mark had stayed on for so long  But glad they've cleared it up. Didn't hear Tuesday or Wednesday's shows but I did have a good chuckle yesterday when Andi Peters came on. I almost suggested in my last post they should get celebrity friends of theirs to take part to mix it up a bit!

Three problems with the Golden Hour for me:

1. I dont want an hour of music. I want to listen to Chris and the team
2. If we do have to have the Golden Hour it should include music from well before 1990. I would say 1980 but I would settle for 1985
3 Chris shouldnt be the only one to choose the first half hours music. It is his show and it seems obvious he should make the choices, but he just picks crap songs week after week and they all seem so 'samey' to me. I would rotate it and give each team member the opportunity to pick the first half hours songs.
