The Mind Robber is one of my all time favourites because it is so different to most Who of the time, there's something rather Magical about it for me, in case you didn't already work it out (I imagine you already have of course) "The Master" in that story is nothing to do with The Master from Pertwee's time & onwards, it's just a coincidence. Caves is another of my favourites, I think the reason it's held in so high regard by the "experts" (I don't ever declare myself as one of these BTW, I'm a big fan of The Twin Dilemma, which is often considered one of the worst stories ever) is because all of Davison's stories before hand had been rather "nice" compared to this one & the fact that the lighting & direction by Graham Harper was spot on (my only criticism of Moffat's era is that he hasn't chosen Harper to direct any episodes so far since he's taken over from RTD), the line by Colin at the end is odd but I think it was kind of a "warning" of how different a Doctor he was going to be to Davison.
Yep it's Day of The Daleks, that is a very good scene as well, a quick karate move (or whatever martial art it was) and then back to the wine or port & cheese I actually prefer Death To The Daleks from the Pertwee era although my favourite surviving Dalek story from the classic era is Revelation of The Daleks, it just all seems to come together so well in that one & it's a rather dark story, sadly it was the penultimate story from the excellent Colin Baker (IMO of course).
I also agree with you regarding Tennant, don't get me wrong I like the 10th Doctor, however my criticism of him is that he's too human for the most part, sure Troughton is a "mad old uncle" at times, however he has an other worldly mystique about him which makes him so brilliant and all the more a shame that so much of his stuff was junked back in the 70's
The Ninth Doctor is excellent, I watched back "The Empty Child" (both parts) and "The Parting Of The Ways" (both parts) recently & Eccleston excelled, it's such a shame he only did one year and even more of a shame that he has said of recent that he won't ever reprise the role (either as a returning role, a la The Five Doctors or on the Big Finish Audios, if they ever get the licence for the modern series), I just hope Matt Smith is round for another two years at least, he's brilliant in the role & the most alien Doctor we've had since Tom Baker.
End of geekeyness

Of the older Doctors I can recommend the 2nd Doctor story "The Mind Robber", which is a wonderfully psychedelic 60's story set in a fairytale land (actually better than it sounds), the 5th Doctor story "The Caves Of Androzani" which is still to this day (IMO & that of quite a few Who fans) the best regeneration story ever, the 6th Doctor story "Revelation Of The Daleks" for the many great double acts (in a dramatic sense) and a great slimy turn by Clive Swift (Richard out of Keeping Up Apperances).
One thing I do wish had happened however was Eccleston continuing for longer than he did, don't get me wrong Tennat was very good in the role, however watching back Series 1 recently I re-realised (is that a word) what a great Doctor 9th was, unfortunately Eccleston has no interest in playing the role again in any shape or form
Yeah saw "The Mind Robber" and it was very funny when The Doctor had to put Jamie's face back together and got it wrong (surely you could tell it was wrong). The Caves Of Androzani was good but i don't get all the hype around it and Colin Baker's line at the end "change my dear and not a moment too soon" was odd..
The best couple of seconds of any story is from the Pertwee story "Day of the Daleks" (i think?) when he attacks an intruder and then takes a sip of wine without spilling a drop. Plus the Dalek voices are pretty poor in that one especially on the word co----or----din----ates which is quite funny.
Shame about Eccleston as i actually found (controversial opinion) that he was a better Doctor than Tennant.
