There is some strong BBC research that shows that 'podcasts' have hit a bit of a ceiling with number of people taking it up. That is even true for The Best of The Chris Moyles Show. Podcasts coincidentally came about the same time as iPods - and most people appear to associate a podcast with Apple. With digital content growing much broader than that into other phones and social media a 'free download' is felt to more accurately portray what it is.

One wonders if that was from the same people who thought that saying 'listen, watch, share' in the news jingle would help engage the 'yoof' with current affairs :D

I think you'll find it's "Listen, Watch, Cher".

Why, what's she doing?

Does she? Well, I can feel something inside me say I really don't think I'm strong enough.

Those things are no laughing matter. Pleasure isn't synonymous with mirth...

It's not as sinister as it all appears I promise, and really it's between Chris and management so not really fair for me to comment on. Chris had a choice regarding his Twitter account, and he made a decision. There's no Radio 1 ban of Twitter or anything like that.

That's intriguing!

Hope Chris is staying on Twitter

I was with Chris. Don't like Bon Jovi as a rule, but love that Bad Medicine track.....

Hey Aled, I'm wondering how songs get chosen to be played. Is the tracklist for the whole show chosen before the show starts? Or are they picked in half hour slots? Ten minuite slots? Are they picked off the playlist by a computer, or hand picked?

Odd question, I know, but I was just curious :)

They're picked by computer to begin with for the whole show ( that ensures there are no clashes with Dev and Fearne's show, and also that the right mix of British / international acts are chosen, you don't get two of the same genres back to back - like no two dance tracks). For us then someone (Sarita) checks them all and jiggles them about to best suit Chris and a breakfast audience.

Chris then moves it all about again when it comes to the show :)

How about getting Greg in for the musical taste game as I reckon he'd be good on that feature?

I'll suggest it. We've got to be quite quick and pick the musical taste game participants really carefully because I don't think there's many weeks in it.

I can see why you think that, and I agree - but hasn't it got the potential to be a brilliant occasional feature? An as-and-when kind of thing? It couldn't work for every guest you had on but for the "friend of the show" type guest it could be great.

I agree but wonder if the music department will want to choke the life out of it with lots of restrictions? They are probably not happy with The Village People etc being played in the peak slot.

Hope that's not the case or it would just confirm to me that certain people (not you Aled) within the media should realise that not everything needs to go through a focus group etc?
