The Buzzcocks - Ever Fallen In Love

Today's Transcript:

'I Don't Want A Lover' was released in February 1989, the same month that 'Belfast Child' was a hit for Simple Minds. Simple Minds are fronted by Jim Kerr, who has a son with Patsy Kensit, who also has a son with Liam Gallagher, who also has a son with Nicole Appleton, who used to go out with Robbie Williams, who also dated Rachel Hunter, who was married to Rod Stewart, who had a big hit with 'Sailing'. Sailing involves wearing waterproof clothing, as does mountaineering. Mountaineering is popular in Snowdonia in North Wales. North Wales is where Lisa Scott-Lee is from, who used to be in Steps with H. 'H' in the world of civil aviation signifies a heliport, which is somewhere you land a helicopter. The design for the helicopter was based on a dragonfly. Dragonflies are more common in the summer, as are bees. Bees go 'buzz', which links to The Buzzcocks and 'Ever Fallen In Love'.

Flaws:

Seamless today.

5ive - Keep On Movin'

Today's Transcript:

'Ever Fallen In Love' was covered by the Fine Young Cannibals, who are fronted by Roland Gift. Gifts are what you give to loved ones at Christmas. Christmas, first name Lloyd, is the character played by Jim Carrey in 'Dumb and Dumber'. In 'Dumb and Dumber', the characters go skiing in Aspen, which is in Colorado. Colorado is also the name of an American river. River Phoenix starred in 'Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade' alongside Sean Connery. Sean Connery is the father of Jason, who was Robin of Sherwood. Sherwood, first name Tim, used to play for Blackburn Rovers, as did Christian Daly, who is from Dundee. Dundee is where we're going today, and hopefully we should be there by about five, which links to 5ive and 'Keep On Movin''.

Flaws:

Once again problem-free.

The Proclaimers - I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)

Today's Transcript:

Moving is something that normally involves a van. Van Nistelrooy has fallen out with Sir Alex Ferguson, who shares the same surname as Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas. The Black Eyed Peas sang about humps, while humps or speedbumps in Dutch are called 'drenkles'. 'Drenkles' sounds a bit like 'dimples', which are found on your cheeks. Cheeks are associated with both your face and your bottom. Bottom is the opposite of top. 'Top Gear' is the programme that features Richard Hammond. A Hammond is a type of organ, while an organ is what you'd find in a church. Church, first name Charlotte, goes out with Gavin Henson, who shares the same surname as Jim Henson, who invented the Muppets, including Kermit the Frog. Frogs' legs are popular in France, which is one of the Rugby Six Nations, along with Scotland. Scotland is where the Proclaimers are from, which links to the Proclaimers and 'I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)'.

Flaws:

Nothing to report today.

Kenny Loggins - Footloose

Today's Transcript:

The Proclaimers are made up of two brothers. Brothers are the male equivalent of sisters. Sisters of Mercy were a goth band who were formed in Leeds. Leeds take on Watford this Sunday in Cardiff. Cardiff is where you'd expect to see Charlotte Church. 'Church' rhymes with 'perch', which is a type of fish. Fish are caught in nets, while nets of a different type are used in cricket for practising. Cricketers wear pads, which are found in your car on the brakes. Brakes Co-op are the band that include Zane Lowe. Low is the opposite of high. We've certainly had a week of highs here in Dundee, and had the time of our lives. Now ordinarily this would have linked to (I've Had) The Time Of My Life' by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes, however, due to a clerical error the CD with that track on is now blank which means we have to choose something else, which links to Kenny Loggins and 'Footloose'.

Flaws:

Seamless, despite the issue with Dave's chosen track.

Tedious Facts:

Week Released - 28th April 1984

MC Fact Attack:

This track was only played by default, as it was on a spare CD in the studio where "Time Of My Life" by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes was meant to be, but wasn't. (The recommended single "Footloose" is available on the soundtrack to "Footloose", unsurprisingly).

Faithless - Insomnia

Today's Transcript:

'Footloose' starred Kevin Bacon, who was also in 'The Lost Boys' with Kiefer Sutherland, who's now in '24'. 24 is two dozen. The word 'dozen' shares many of the same letters as 'ozone', which is like a protective layer around the earth which is being destroyed by hairspray. Hairspray is what people like Jon Bon Jovi used a lot of in the 1980s. The 1980s in British politics were the Thatcher years. Margaret Thatcher's daughter Carol was the winner of the last series of 'I'm A Celebrity'. 'I'm A Celebrity' is hosted by Ant & Dec, who are from Newcastle, like Donna Air. Air is important in the world of scuba diving, as are flippers. Flipper is also the name of the world's most famous dolphin. If you're a dolphin it must be very difficult to get to sleep. If you can't sleep you might say you were suffering from insomnia, which links to Faithless and 'Insomnia'.

Flaws:

Two major issues today: Kevin Bacon wasn't in 'The Lost Boys', and dolphins do sleep, they just do it by shutting down one half of the brain at a time, so they can still breathe while getting the rest they need.

Tedious Facts:

Zero 7 - Destiny

Today's Transcript:

Insomnia is something that David Baddiel suffers from. David Baddiel is the former comedy partner of Frank Skinner. Frank Skinner supports West Ham, who are managed by Bryan Robson. Bryan Robson shares one name in common with Robson Green, who had hits with Jerome Flynn for Simon Cowell. Simon Cowell is soon to be judging the vocal talents of Chris Moyles when he appears on 'Celebrity X-Factor' to promote his book. Books are what you'd expect to find in a library, which is somewhere you have to keep quiet, as is a cinema, where they sell popcorn. 'Popcorn' was a hit for Crazy Frog, which was invented somewhere in Europe. Europe is normally a hotbed of crap music, with one exception being Ibiza. One record that always reminds me of Ibiza is 'Destiny' by Zero 7, which links to Zero 7 and 'Destiny'.

Flaws:

INXS - Mystify

Today's Transcript:

If you add 'child' onto the end of 'destiny' you get Destiny's Child, who were a girl group consisting of Beyonce, Kelly and Michelle. Michelle from Destony's Child shares the same first name as Michelle McManus, who shares the same surname as snooker player Alan, who's also from Scotland. Scotland is where we were last weekend, you probably heard. Hird, first name Douglas, is a former Cabinet Minister of Margaret Thatcher, who was born in Grantham. Grantham, first name Leslie, is a former 'Eastenders' actor who's into webcams and stuff, a bit like Aled. Aled is Welsh, like Colin Jackson, who's good at dancing. 'Dancing In The Street' was a hit in 1985 for Mick Jagger and David Bowie. David Bowie also had a hit with 'China Girl'. China regained control of Hong Kong in 1987. Hong Kong is where Michael Hutchence of INXS went to school, which links to INXS and 'Mystify'.

Flaws:

I'm not sure how flattered Aled is by the comparison to Leslie Grantham, but technically seamless.

Urban Cookie Collective - The Key The Secret

Today's Transcript:

INXS included two brothers with the surname Farriss. 'Farris' rhymes with 'Paris', which is where Carrie was yesterday for the Champions League final between Arsenal and Barcelona. 'Barcelona' was a hit for Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballe. Montserrat is an island in the Caribbean. 'Caribbean Queen' was a hit for Billy Ocean. An ocean is what separates the UK from America. America is governed by President George W Bush. 'Bush' rhymes with 'push', as in 'Push The Button', which was a recent hit for the Sugababes. The Sugababes use a squad rotation system, like Jose Murinho. Jose Murinho is from Portugal, which is situated on the side of Spain. In Spain, in footballing terms Real Madrid and Barcelona are regarded as being the 'big two' Two is the highest chart position reached by Urban Cookie Collective, which links to Urban Cookie Collective and 'The Key The Secret'.

Flaws:

There were in fact three Farriss brothers in INXS, not two.

New Order: True Faith

Today's Transcript:

Urban Cookie Collective followed up 'The Key The Secret' with the not so successful 'Feels Like Heaven'. 'Heaven' rhymes with 'seven', which is a film starring Morgan Freeman. Morgan Freeman shares the same surname as DJ Alan Freeman, whose nickname is Fluff. Fluff is what you find in your bellybutton, and for some reason it's normally blue. Blue were the band that launched the career of Simon Webb. A web is something you'd associate with a spider. Spiders can be dangerous, especially funnel web spiders, which like to live in Australian toilets and bite you when you sit down. 'Sit Down' was a hit for James, whose frontman Tim Booth supports Manchester United, so our thoughts go out to him this morning. 'This Morning' is a show presented by Fern Britton and Philip Schofield. Philip Schofield shares the same first name as Phil Collins, who starred in the film 'Hook' with Robin Williams. Hook, first name Peter, is the bass player with New Order, which links us to New Order and 'True Faith'.

All fine today.

The Smiths: This Charming Man

Today's Transcript:

New Order recorded the 1990 World Cup song 'World In Motion', which included the famous rap by John Barnes. Johnh Barnes is playing in the Soccer 8 England side, managed by Terry Venables. Terry Venables has the initials TV, which is an abbreviation for television. The television was invented by John Logie Baird, while the steam locomotive was invented by George Stephenson. George Stephenson shares the same surname as Pamela Stephenson, who's married to Billy Connolly. Billy Connolly used to work as a welder, which was also the occupation of the girl in 'Fame'. 'Fame' was a no1 in 1982 for Irene Cara. 'Cara' is almost an anagram of 'Accra', which is the capital of Ghana. Ghana's star player is Michael Essien, who plays for Chelsea. Chelsea is a district of West London. London is home to many famous actors, such as Bob Hoskins and Neil Morrissey. When you think of the name Morrissey in terms of music you think of The Smiths, which links to The Smiths and 'This Charming Man'.

Flaws:

There was no welder in 'Fame', that was 'Flashdance'. There was also some argument regarding Ghana's top player, with texters citing Junior Agogo rather than Michael Essien, but that remained open to debate.

Wet Wet Wet: Sweet Little Mystery

Today's Transcript:

The Smiths featured not only Morrissey, but also guitarist Johnny Marr. If you swap the 'M' in 'Marr' for a 'B' you get 'Barr', as in Roseanne Barr, who starred in her own sitcom with John Goodman. The name John Goodman sounds very similar to Don Goodman, who played for Bradford. Bradford is the birthplace of Girls Aloud's Kimberley Walsh. Walsh, first name Tommy, used to be in 'Ground Force' with Alan Titchmarsh. Alan Titchmarsh is currently presenting the BBC coverage of the Chelsea Flower Show, which takes place every year. A year is made up of twelve months, which are made up of thirty days on average, which can each be broken down into 24 hours. If you'd been up for 24 hours you'd be tired and want to put your head down on a pillow. If you swap the 'I' in 'pillow' for an 'E' you get 'Pellow', as in Marti Pellow who's the singer in Wet Wet Wet, which links to Wet Wet Wet and 'Sweet Little Mystery'.

Flaws:

Mathematically speaking a month on average has 30.4 days, or 30.5 in a Leap Year.

Public Enemy: Fight The Power

Today's Transcript:

A mystery is something that needs to be solved, a bit like a riddle. If you add an 'R' onto the end of 'riddle' you get 'riddler', which is a character from Batman. Batman's sidekick is Robin. Robin Beck had a hit with 'The First Time', which was taken from an advert for cola. Cola Boy had a hit in 1981 with 'Seven Ways To Love'. Seven is the square root of 49. The 49ers got to no3 with 'Touch Me', which was also the title of a hit by Cathy Dennis. Cathy Dennis wrote 'Can't Get You Out Of My Head' for Kylie Minogue. Kylie Minogue was a soap opera mechanic, like Ricky Butcher from 'Eastenders'. Ricky Butcher is played by Sid Owen. Sid Owen shares the same surname as Michael Owen, who is due to captain England tonight against Belarus. Belarus has seen its fair share of political conflict over the years and some people have had to 'fight the power', which links to Public Enemy and 'Fight The Power'.

The Cure: Friday I’m In Love

Today's Transcript:

Public Enemy included Flavor Flav, who was going out with Brigitte Nielsen, who used to be married to Sylvester Stallone, who was in 'Rocky'. A rocky coastline would probably be a hazard to shipping. If you remove the 'H' from 'shipping' you get 'sipping', which is what you might do with a hot cup of tea. Tea is grown in places like Sri Lanka. 'Lanka' rhymes with 'danke', which is the German word for 'thankyou'. 'Thankyou' was a hit for Alanis Morrisette. 'Morrisette' shares many of the same letters as 'viniagrette', which is a popular dressing for salad. Salad is good for you and can be part of a balanced diet. 'Diet' is an anagram of 'tide', which is what might come in if you're at the beach. Tidal movement can erode beaches, which is why they have those wooden things called groynes. Groins of a different type are what might be treated by a physio at a football club. If you were able to give footballers something to stop groin strain ever happening again that would be described as a cure, which links to The Cure and 'Friday I'm In Love'.

Flaws:

'Danke' is German for 'thanks' rather than 'thankyou', and something that stopped groin strains occuring would be a prevention, not a cure.

Today's Transcript:

The Cure are fronted by Robert Smith, who shares the same surname as Alan Smith, the TV pundit. 'Pundit' sounds a bit like 'punnet', which is a receptacle for carrying strawberries. Strawberries can be served with cream. 'Cream' was a hit for Prince and the New Power Generation. The New Power Generation also featured the vocal talents of Rosie Gaines, who had a hit with 'Closer Than Close'. Close is the opposite of far away. 'Far And Away' is a film about immigrants galloping about on horses. Horses are used to round up cattle on a ranch. Tears For Fears: Shout

Today's Transcript:

Michael Jackson has a monkey called Bubbles. Bubbles are what you'd associate with West Ham. west Ham are managed by Alan Pardue, who shares the same first name as Alan Whicker, who's keen on travelling. 'Travelling Without Moving' is the title of an album by Jamiroquai, which is some kind of Red Indian name, I think. Indians live in a reservation, while a reservation is what you need to eat in a posh restaurant like The Ivy. Ivy Tyldesley is a famous character from 'Coronation Street', which is filmed in Manchester. Manchester is the city that hosted Saturday's Soccer Aid game, which was won by England, under the captaincy of Robbie Williams. Robbie Williams shares the same surname as Denise Williams, who had a hit with 'Let's Hear It For The Boy'. 'Boys Don't Cry' was a hit for The Cure. Crying results in the production of tears. 'Tears' rhymes with 'fears', which links to Tears For Fears and 'Shout'.

Flaws:

Jamiroquai isn't strictly speaking an Indian name; Jay Kay took the name of the Iroquai, which are an Indian tribe, and added 'jam' to the front.

Happy Mondays: Step On

Today's Transcript:

'Shout' was also the title of a hit for Lulu, who features on Take That's 'Relight My Fire'. Fire engines tend to be red, as do postboxes, which are where you put letters. Letters are what you get from Carol Vorderman if you're a contestant on 'Countdown'. 'Countdown' is now hosted by Des Lynam, who used to do a programme called 'How Do They Do That?' with Esther McVey. 'Esther' rhymes with 'Leicester', whose football team are called the Foxes. Foxes can be a pest if you're a poultry farmer, cos they like to eat chickens. Chickens have feathers, as do geese. Goose feathers are used to stuff pillows. Pillows are what you'd find on a bed, as are sheets, and stuff like this is known as bedding. If you add 'field' onto the end of 'bedding' you get 'bedding field', as in Daniel Bedingfield, who's a singer, a bit like Sean Ryder, which links to the Happy Mondays and 'Step On'.

Flaws:

Adding together 'bedding' and 'field' doesn't really make Bedingfield.

The Boo Radleys: Wake Up Boo!

Today's Transcript:

Step on is what you'd need to do if you were boarding a tram. A tram is what killed 'Coronation Street''s Alan Bradley in Blackpool. Blackpool is a good place to go if you like the seaside and fish and chips. Fish and chips are traditionally served with salt and vinegar. Vinegar is made from fermented wine. Wine is what Jesus was able to turn water into. Water is what you find in a reservoir. 'Reservoir Dogs' is what resurrected the career of John Travolta, who'd been in the doldrums since 'Grease'. 'Grease' also starred Olivia Newton John, who's Australian. Australian young people tend to be keen on travel, and often pay for their trips by working in bars. Bars are what you'd find on the windows in jail. One way of escaping from jail would be to dig a tunnel. A tunnel is the most famous thing to come out of Wallasey apart from the Boo Radleys , which links to the Boo Radleys and 'Wake Up Boo!'.

Armand Van Helden: You Don’t Know Me

Today's Transcript:

Boo is a word that you shouldn't say to a goose. The word 'geese' shares many of the same letters as the word 'cheese'. Cheese can be hard or soft, as can contact lenses, which are an alternative to spectacles. If you take away the first four letters of the word 'spectacles' and replace them with 'T', 'E' and 'N' you get 'tentacles', which are what you find on an octopus. An octopus can sting you, a bit like a bee. 'Be Here Now' was the title of the third album by Oasis. Oasis are from Manchester, which is the city that also gave us Steve Coogan, who created Alan Patridge. A partridge is what you'd expect to find in a pear tree. Tree would be the magic number if you were irish, like Louis Walsh. Louis Walsh is a judge on 'X-Factor', which is one of the things we were talking about yesterday with David Walliams, who's planning to swim the channel. Swimming might involve wearing armbands, and if you remove the 'B' and 'S' from 'armbands' you're left with 'Armand', which links to Armand Van Helden and 'You Don't Know Me'.

Flaws:

Octopodes (which is the correct plural of octopus - not octopii as Dave insisted) don't sting. He may have been mixed up with jellyfish.

Guns ‘N’ Roses: Sweet Child O’Mine

Today's Transcript:

'You Don't Know Me' was also the title of a hit by Ray Charles, who shares one name in common with Prince Charles, who's next in line to the throne after his mum, Queen Elizabeth II. Queen Elizabeth II is sometimes abbreviated to QE2, which is also the name of a famous cruise ship. 'Ship Of Fools' was a hit for Erasure, who included Vince Clarke, who was also in Yazoo with Alison Moyet. If you swap the 'M' in 'Moyet' for a 'P' you get 'Poyet', as in Gus Poyet, who's just been made assistant manager at Swindon Town along with Dennis Wise. Wise is something an owl might be. The owl and the pussycat went to see in a beautiful pea green boat. 'Boat' rhymes with 'coat', which is what you wear if it's cold. Cold is the opposite of hot, which confusingly is represented by the Letter C on French taps. 'Taps' rhymes with 'baps', which are what you might put bacon in. Bacon would be off the menu if you're vegetarian, like former model Heather Mills. Another famous name from modelling is Sophie Anderton, who apparently had a date with Axl Rose, which links to Guns N' Roses and 'Sweet Child O' Mine'.

Len: Steal My Sunshine

Today's Transcript:

Axl Rose used to be married to Stephanie Seymour, who shares the same surname as Jane Seymour. Seymour was also the name of Blur before they became Blur. If you remove the 'L' from 'Blur' you get 'bur', which phonetically is the French for butter. Butter is nice on toast that's just come out from under the grill. A grille is what you find on the front of your car. Your car is what you'd be getting fixed if you were visiting the garage. Garage is the type of music that the Dreem Teem like to play. 'Play' was an album by Moby. 'Moby' rhymes with 'Gobi', which is a large desert in Asia. Asia includes China and Japan. Japan invented sushi, which is eaten raw. 'Raw Like Sushi' was an album by Neneh Cherry, who shares the same surname as Trevor Cherry, who used to play for Leeds. Leeds is where Nell McAndrew is from. If you reverse the letters in the word 'Nell' you get 'lenn', which links to Len and 'Steal My Sunshine'.

Flaws:

Obviously the word 'Nell' reversed and the band name 'Len' are not the same thing. Also, to get technical, sushi isn't always raw.

Skee-Lo: I Wish

Today's Transcript:

Sunshine on a rainy day normally results in a rainbow. 'Rainbow' was a tv show that featured Zippy and Bungle. If you add an 'A' to 'bungle' and replace the 'E' for an 'o' and a 'W' you get 'bungalow', which is an Indian word meaning 'house with no upstairs'. Upstairs is the opposite of downstairs, which is where you'd normally find the kitchen. 'Martika's Kitchen' was a hit for Martika that got to number 17. 17 is the shirt number worn by Everton's Tim Cahill, who plays for Australia. 'Australia' was a hit for the Manic Street Preachers, who include Nicky Wire. Wire is what you have in your house to power the plugs and stuff. Plugs are found in baths and sinks. Sink is what a boat would do if it had a hole in it. A boat is where you'd be if you were looking for fish, and 'fish' rhymes with 'wish',, which links to Skee-Lo and 'I Wish'.

Flaws:

The term 'bungalow' did in fact originate in India, deriving from the Gujarati 'bangalo', which in turn derives from Hindi 'banglā'. This term was used elliptically for a "house in the Bengal style", which were traditionally small, only one storey and detached, and had a wide veranda. So Dave had it half-right.

Jo Whiley is from Northampton, whose football team are nicknamed the Cobblers. Cobblers mend shoes, which are sold in pairs. Pears grow on a tree, which is where you might find a partridge, according to the 'Twelve Days of Christmas'. Christmas takes place once a year, like Easter. Easter is a time for giving eggs, which are traditionally hidden so you can go on a hunt. When you think of hunting for illegal stuff you think of bloodhounds, which links to the Bloodhound Gang and 'The Bad Touch'.

Flaws:

Customs officers in fact use King Charles spaniels rather than bloodhounds for sniffing out illegal substances; and it was Blackpool Airport, not Newquay, that named a lounge after Jo Whiley.

PM Dawn: Set Adrift On Memory Bliss

Today's Transcript:

A bloodhound is a large dog with a wet nose. The nose is a part of the body that is used to smell. If you remove the first and last letters of 'smell' you're left with 'Mel', which is the first name of Mel B, also known as Scary Spice. Spices were traded in the olden days, and transported using ships. Ships are powered by the wind with the use of sails. Sales of a different type are what people queue for in January. January is named after Janus, who was, I think, a Roman or Greek God. The Greeks did rather well at Euro 2004 in Portugal. Portugal is a good place to go if you like hor weather, and is definitely warmer than Germany. Germany have produced several bands, including PM Dawn, which links to PM Dawn and 'Set Adrift On Memory Bliss'.

Flaws:

Much debate ensued as to whether PM Dawn really were German. Dave stated afterwards that he thought they were actually in the American army but based in Germany; however, wiki simply states that they are an American ensemble, formed in 1988 by brothers Attrell and Jarrett Cordes in Jersey City, New Jersey. Additionally, Janus was in fact a Roman God - the God of beginnings and transitions.

Madonna: Holiday

Today's Transcript:

A PM dawn is how you'd describe the sun rising in the afternoon, which comes between morning and evening. Evening primrose oil is something you might find in a health food shop, as is cod liver oil, which is made from fish. Fish are the favourite food of sealions, like Dom's friend Barkley, who lives at Whipsnade Zoo. 'Zooropa' was an album by U2, who were formed in Dublin, where Louis Walsh has about three houses. Louis Walsh was Chris' mentor on 'The X-Factor', which was won by Lucy Benjamin. Benjamin Franklin Roosevelt is a former President of the USA. The Presidents of The USA had hits with 'Lump' and 'Peaches'. Peaches come from a can, and were put there by a man, in a factory downtown. 'Downtown' was a hit for Petula Clark. Petulas are a type of flower, which are a major export from Holland. We watched Holland v Serbia yesterday from here in Germany, where we're working dead hard even though the weather is really nice like when you're on holiday, which links to Madonna and 'Holiday'.

Flaws:

Petulas are not a flower, they're not anything; Dave was thinking of petunias. Additionally, there is no such person as Benjamin Franklin Roosevelt; Dave had Franklin Delano Roosevelt, President of the United States from 1933–1945, and Benjamin Franklin, one of the Founding Fathers of the United States in the 1700s, mixed together.

Reverend Black Grape: Black Grape

Today's Transcript:

A holiday is what Americans refer to as a vacation, as in 'National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation', which featured Christie Brinckley who was married to Billy Joel. Billy Joel shares one name in common with Joel Hogroast from JK & Joel. JK & Joel do the show before us every day except Friday, when it's done by Reggie Yates and Fearne Cotton. Fearne Cotton shares the same surname as Dot Cotton from 'Eastenders', while Reggie Yates shares the same first name as Reggie Kray, who also has an 'Eastenders' link because he knew Barbara Windsor who playe Peggy Mitchell. Peggy Mitchell is the mother of Phil and Grant. Grant is also the first name of Grant Bovey, who's the other half of Anthea Turner, who used to present 'Top Of The Pops'. 'Top Of The Pops' is now on on a Sunday night, along with 'Antiques Roadshow'. 'Antiques Roadshow' has the initials AR, like Adam Rickitt, who used to be in 'Corrie'. 'Corrie' is filmed in Manchester, which gave us The Smiths and The Happy Mondays. The Happy Mondays were fronted by Shaun Ryder, who went on to form Black Grape, which links to Black Grape and 'Reverend Black Grape'.

Flaws:

Joel's real surname is in fact Hogg, although he uses the name Ross professionally.
