This is a song that has almost been ruined by sport, but when Bryn Terfel recorded it in a faithful fashion the dreadful Gerry and the Pacemakers version pales into the insignificance it truly deserves, and its just a beautiful song again.

Bryn Terfel singing You'll Never Walk Alone.

Only One song it could be given Plymouth Argyles current predicament.

Gonna go with my first thought as soon as I read the GH title. Issue is that it's not really a song as such but more a theme tune: Going for gold

OK, changed my mind. My pick is Shed Seven - Going for gold

As in the Henry Kelly TV show or the Shed Seven song? (I can't see the vid.)

Unfortunately its the Henry Kelly thing.

Fleetwood Mac's The Chain. The best sports theme ever & i don't even like motor racing that much.

Sorry, revelation number 2 today.

Due to reminiscing over 80's classics in a different thread my mind stumbled upon this weeks certified winner.

Joe Esposito - You're the best

Something like a support group. We could call it Early Spunkers Anonymous or such like. We're not exactly anonymous but hey ho.

And ssh about my great length, I like people to get to know me first. It's not all about the Boaby. 'It's all about the dum dum duh dee dum dum'

Oh man, I love that Joe Esposito song! My friend Jim played it at his 80s rock night a few months ago and I downloaded it the following day :)

Bill Conti - Going The Distance

The Rocky movies have some brilliant tunes, but this one's my favourite. Because of this probably...

Nowt wrong with 'quickness'. You get the same sensation at the end, why waste the energy....?!

And anway, its all comparrative. if someone told you that you had unlimited spending power, for only 30 seconds at a time, but every 15 minutes - you'd think that was more than generous!

*Gets his big Saltire emblazoned pokey stick oot*

The song is utter gash and the line - 'we're singing for England (En-ger-land)' still riles me 20 years on.

*Puts away his big pokey stick*
