The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Well well well.

I awake to see his righteous' Charlie Brooker slagging off the money spent on radio 1 adverts. - And indeed across the whole BBC.

He wants to save BBC4, see.

He has a point - the promos were not cost effective and were gone as quick as they were unveiled. They were silly, showy and indeed expensive.

So, to add balance to Charlie's singling out of one station, heres another pointless advert:

I don't listen to this station, so the advert MUST be a waste!!!!

He made a valid point, no need to single out one area of a bloated corporation as a visual example.

I liked this one better anyway, it shows you more of the station, even though it's probably just as expensive:

I've just seen Jo Whiley's advert, * hell, and she's not even there anymore!

Jesus H Christ!

But I still stand by what I say about Chris being an easy target - When every other Tom Dick and Harry was getting daft money spent on them too.

Credit where it's due, those 20 second 'hello' ads are simply brilliant. As somebody else noted the only pity is they diden't get more airtime.

The standout ads are Chris, Jo Whiley, and Zanes. It's a toss up in my mind which of these 3 would get the gold medal, possibly Zane??

Having said that, in my view, the original is still the best!! I think the binman ad in 2004 just sums up the show perfectly and is my earliest memory of the CM show!! While I'm sure there was a decent cost to the ad, you would hope that they might have the budget to do an equally cheeky ad again. Failing that give the 'hello' ads another run.

Totally agree, loved the bin man ad. I don't remember any previous ads for any of Chris's other Radio 1 shows before he started on the breakfast show.

No idea how much it may have cost at the time, but I'm soured they didn't have the same budget issues as they would have done doing the newer horse advert.

I very briefly saw him on a teen awards advert last night. Was either BBC1 or 3 I saw it.

Never seen those older ads of the show (only seen the current one on the horse since I started listening) and they were pretty cool.

So was the horse ad one of the ones he linked to in his tweets? I never look at youtube links on twitter. I'm trying to catch up on my feed, not watch videos.

Yes. Chris and Zane are the only two DJs I'm likely to listen to. Zane's advert is my favourite of the lot. Be good if they'd just left it at that, can't believe weekend DJs got the lavish treatment too.

The horse ad is hideous imo!

I liked the binman one, i'd never seen that one before. It's also amazing how he's aged in a few years. But losing a lot of weight can do that.
