BABBLING Stacey Solomon is set to be the new Cilla Black with a dating show.

The I'm a Celeb winner, 22, will present The Love Machine with Radio 1's Chris Moyles, 37.

Guys and girls on the Sky Living show — dubbed the "new Blind Date" — will choose each other on looks alone.

After two couples answer questions on sex, money and fanciability one pair will win a holiday — although a final twist will give them the chance to ditch their date for a new one at the last minute.

Stacey said: "I can't wait for Chris and I to play Cupid."

Anybody else notice the glaring error in this statement.

I also notice it is going head to head in the ratings war with BBC4's new documentary based on the lives of people affected by Hurricane Katrina. It is already being dubbed the "new Strike It Lucky"

Evidently they just mean it's the "new Blind Date" in that it's a dating show. I'm hoping this isn't true...Chris can do much better, and Sky Living is just a repository for crappy reality shows. Although they do show Will & Grace.

well , i'd normally avoid this. But i've come around to Stacey in recent times , and I still believe Chris has a future as a presenter.
Why Sky Living though ? would've thought ITV would love to lap something like this up ...

A similar thought occurred to me. Given he has a show on a "proper" channel which seems to be going from strength to strength, it does seem strange that he would be seeking something as - what's the word? Cable-ish?! - as this. I reckon its either a financial offer he couldn't refuse, or a favour for a friend, or he fancies Stacey Solomon. The one thing I don't believe is that he made the decision based on the potential or intrinsic quality of the programme.

You would hope he's been handed a fair chunk of creative control, ever happy in his comfort zone. He afterall brought back CPC, so therefore has sizeable knowledge of classic telly, playing the theme tunes all the time. But this will obviously be updated (excuse the pun).

Surely ITV must own the copyright to Blind Date, so I think this will be a bit more than an updated version of that. Also just updating the basic format has already been tried without success - with that awful show with Davina presenting where the potential dates wore spooky masks. I forget what it was called. It didn't last long.

No, not Streetmate! That was ages before the one I'm talking about, and it had nothing in common with Blind Date (except it was a dating show), and there were no scary masks that I recall. Swaddon, according to wiki that's the one - it even mentions the masks:
