A slightly more complicated procedure to follow this week, so here's Bas to tell you more about it:
I wondered if i could have songs that Weird Al has covered, you could post the original & if possible the Weird Al version.
My own choice would be Dire Straits 'Money for Nothing': http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wTP2RUD_cL0&ob=av2e
And Al's infinitely better version 'Money for Nothing/Beverley Hillbillies' : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P4SDhrTP ... ure=artist
I thought i'd try something a bit more unusual this time, but if you think this topic might be too limiting please let me know & i'll think of something else.

  • To play, post a song from the theme (or year) in this thread with a youtube link if possible. Please be very nice to me and also post the title in the following format: Song Artist - Song Title (this saves me time when making the poll)
  • Do not post a song that has already been chosen, and please try not to change your answer, though if you really want to, you can. Also, only one entry each.
  • 3-5 days after the thread was originally posted, a poll will go up with all the entries (that qualify for the category).
  • For the next 3 days the forum can vote on their favourite option, with one vote each. Voting for your own choice is frowned upon but not disallowed.
  • When the poll closes, the winner will be invited to choose the next category. In the event of a tie the first entrant (who was joint first) to get back to me will be allowed to choose. If the winner does not pick a choice within 4 or 5 days, the runner-up will be asked choose.

I don't like Weird Al so I am going with Baby Yudster's favourite Weird Al track (he does like him) - Yoda.

Which of course is a cover of The Kinks' Lola.

So are we voting for the best original song or the best weird al song. Because American Idiot would probably get my vote but I wasn't a massive fan of Canadian Idiot, maybe because I love Green Day so much.

Also, did anyone see Weird Al on How I Met Your Mother the other week? It was brilliant.

Yeah, if you read the post at the top it's "songs that Weird Al has covered", rather than "Weird Al songs".

I saw it. Wasn't as good as when he did the cover of Homer's song in The Simpsons :)

Yes it is, it's starts with the Under The Bridge opening few seconds & then goes into give it away.

I think when I saw him live Smells Like Nirvana was my favourite one - as well as coming out in full Kurt Cobain costume, he had the two grunge cheerleader dancers. There were so many costume changes, it was crazy :)
