About 53 hours I reckon.

Yes, but it was just posted to usenet which as we discussed at length at the time is not accessible to a lot of people, and nobody could torrent it.

We're going a little off-topic here on the 'Ask Aled' thread, but Nicola I also uploaded the whole show in MPEG2 "broadcast quality" to archive.org which everyone should be able to easily access.

Which you can find here...

You can also just watch them all on youtube.

Oh aye, forgot about that! Doh. Cheers Richard (and Ben). Altho watching them on youtube isn't the same as having them to keep and watch on your tv.

Aled, when you return, will you PLEASE stop playing that trail for the woman who's on after Chris?

It's annoying enough accidentally catching her shrieking at the handover without her poisoning the show unexpectedly.

Cheers.

Yes it is true. I'm obviously out of the loop a tinnie bit with what's been said on air over the last week so let me find out what's been said and I'll get backto you.

Somehow I thought it might be a bit of a longshot, oh well.

Aled, just wondering what your views are on the John Cleese interview? I believe you see a list of people 'doing the rounds' but did Chris go out of his way to get him on the show or was he specifically offered to you?

Also, as you may have seen in the General section, there is quite an interesting discussion on whether Cleese would be appealing to the target demographic of the show. Was that an issue with Rhys, yourself and anyone else in charge of the show?

Did you feel that the interview went well and held appeal to the target audience?

Blimey, I am asking a lot of questions here, but do you think it is worth questioning why we can have an interview with a guy who talked predominantly about a time way before your target audience were born and who did most of his best work before they were born, yet we cant have half an hours worth of music dedicated to one year prior to 1990 on the Golden Hour?

For what it is worth, I had no problem with Cleese whatsoever. I am just curious at the choice and the possible issues surrounding it.

To add to the above, did you honestly only know him from Will and Grace? I find it very hard to believe there's anyone of almost any age who hasn't seen Fawlty Towers! I'm 28 now, but would have been well aware of that show from about the age of 6 or 7, which was the first of many times I watched all the episodes.

I think Aled said that he "was excited to have him on because he'd been on Will & Grace", rather than that he only knew him from that show. Correct me if I'm wrong though Aled.

I find Roy Walker all kinds of annoying, and not remotely funny but as I almost never hear CPC I don't mind if it stays or goes.

Aled - the recommended level to set your thermostat for optimum comfort and fuel efficiency is 17, if you need it higher than that you probably need to look at your insulation. You and Chris are wasting shedloads of energy!

And according to Martin Lewis in his MoneySavingExpert weekly email:
Martin Lewis wrote:It's NOT cheaper to leave heating on all day. We asked the Energy Saving Trust and it says it's an urban myth that it's cheaper to leave it on all day rather than set it for an hour before you get up and get home.

You're asking very political questions - whichever way I answer could land me in trouble with various people.

We don't chase anyone to come on the show unless it's a rare event like a birthday or there's an editorial reason to have them on. We select who we want on from the people who ask to come on.

The issue with Rhys was how long the interview went on for and that it resulted in us dropping more songs than we normally play.

It was a different interview. I was impressed to see it resulted in him trending worldwide - even if that was because he swore :)

The Golden Hour decision is right. There are people like me who don't know, and don't like music from before their teenage years and we want them to have a 'awww!' moment when we play a song.
