Today's Tedious Link:
Technotronic featuring Felly, Pump Up The Jam
Today's Transcript:
'Jump' was also the title of a hit by Van Halen in 1984. 1984 was also the year that the Olympics were held in Los Angeles and the title of a novel by George Orwell. If you swap the 'George' part of 'George Orwell' for 'River' you get the River Orwell, which flows into the North Sea at Ipswich. Ipswich are a football club who play at Portman Road. Portman, first name Natalie, is a film actress who was in 'No Strings Attached'. 'No strings attached' would be a bad thing to read on the packet if you'd just bought a kite. A kite is good to have at the beach on a breezy day, as is a windsurfer. A windsurfer is a crucial piece of equipment in windsurfing, as is a wetsuit. A wetsuit makes most people look like a badly packed bit of black pudding. Black pudding is something you might see on a breakfast buffet, as are croissants and jam. If you had jam on draught you'd be able to ask the dispenser to 'pump up the jam', which links to Technotronic and 'Pump Up The Jam'.
Flaws:
Dave wasn't quite right on the River Orwell; it does broaden into an estuary at Ipswich, but actually flows into the North Sea at Felixstowe, after joining with the River Stour at Shotley.
Tedious Facts:
Released - September 1989
Highest UK Chart Position - #2
Dave last linked to this track just under a year ago, in November 2010.
