The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

So...what did everyone think of Jimmy Carr's appearance on yesterday's show? I was a bit disappointed to be honest! Every time he appears on the show, they just end up talking about how Aled doesn't 'get' jokes. Seriously, didn't they do that routine the first couple of times Jimmy came in to the studio?

Hope all the Aled fans don't lynch me now :D

Personally I like him in the studio, even if they do do the same jokes every time - to be honest, I far, far prefer him on the show to his stand up, which I'm not particularly keen on... it's OK, but I think he's very overrated.

Jimmy Carr is great. He is good on the show and his stand up is brilliant

He is boring. Look at the stand-up comedians section of the Interviews part of the sound vault...Jimmy Carr, Jimmy Carr, Jimmy bloody Carr. Zzzzzz.

I like Jimmy Carr, but I agree with you. The Aled doesnt 'get' jokes thing was done before. The whole thing just felt like going over old ground and a waste of a good guest in my opinion.

Jimmy Carr is funny in small doses, like on 8 Out of 10 Cats, but I wouldn't sit through one of his gigs or DVDs. His laugh is very annoying. Only little girls laugh like that.

I love Jimmy Carr and been to two of his live shows, as his jokes and banter with the audience is what I enjoy and matches my sense of humour. When he is on the show however, he is alright but the whole Aled thing has been done to death and wish they would actually do something. Feels like they couldn't think of something else to do with him so just resort back to something that works.

I thought it was rather boring and showed Carr up as being rather unfunny in general conversation. Hardly a funny guy in the mould of Peter Kay, who always makes me laugh when he's on the show.

I heard that he picks on members of the audience quite a lot during his shows - is this true? I agree about his laugh. I just find the guy irritating and obnoxious, I don't know how he has become the darling of C4. No pleasant or redeeming features whatsoever.

Did you see Peter Kay on Chatty Man last week? Was it me or was he drunk, or just not all that funny?

I don't mind him, but I agree with the others that said it was a little bit of a wasted guest having them go on about Aled again. I like Jimmy though; his one liners are good.

From what I've seen, only the hecklers usually. But I've never been to one of his shows (wouldn't be able to anyway!) so I suppose my thoughts on the matter aren't really valid.

I thought it was hilarious, up there with Parky, Rod Hull and Emu.

And then he ended it with the news he was helping pay for some kid's operation and that was the icing on the cake.

I thought Peter Kay doesn't drink?

I'll admit I thought it would be tedious doing the same thing with Aled and Jimmy Carr, but I ended up laughing quite a lot. It's Aled who is funny in that 'bit' they have though

He doesn't usually, but he necked a couple of glasses of champagne on The One Show last year and then proceeded to make a right tit of himself.

I was gonna say that. He came on (unscheduled) when I went to see Jason Manford a couple years ago and people were saying afterwards that he was drunk...he's teetotal.

Completely agree, every time he appears it seems to be

1.) Did you know his DVD titles form a sentence?
2.) Aled doesn't 'get' jokes

I dislike celebrity interviews on the show in general and this does nothing to change my opinion. Of course this being the annual dvd/book flogging season means I'm regularly switching the show off for up to a hour each day to avoid them. The prospect of having Vernon covering two shows just make things worse.

Roll on January.

I thought he was a light drinker - I'm sure I remember reading somewhere that he said he doesn't NOT drink, he just doesn't really drink. But yes, that really was why I was surprised at his appearance on Chatty Man. If he wasn't drunk then he was half asleep. And I already knew about the gigs to pay for that lad's operation, a fantastic thing for him to do drunk, sober or asleep!
