morning all

I have laughed so much at this story - do they not know what JC humor is like?

The grief he has had with things he has said on Top Gear?

I hold my hands up to JC the mans so funny.

People need to chill out!!

my 2p on the matter

Now was it PMT Chris?

No actually you can't be a woman as you very bravely appologised, which a woman would never do,

Seriously though, good on you. Takes real guts to say sorry, even on a forum. Good Man.

If anyone knows of a bowing smiley, I'd like to use it here.

Clarkson didn't make a comment though, he didn't rant, he didn't state an opinion.

He said they strikes were great, for selfish reasons, then joking about BBC balance, said he'd better say something negative and so he said "they should be shot".

Anyone who's trying to dress that up as him attacking strikers, attacking the public sector or attacking anyone should get their head out of their arse.

it might have been inappropriate for that show, but it was just a harmless, sarcastic comment. He's said equally inappropriate things on his own show and got away with it, so i dont imagine this will change things.

I'm surprised so many people complained when I thought The One Show only got like 5 viewers..

I think this whole thing is great. Yes, what JC said was wrong, but if you listen to what he said in context of the whole conversation it makes much more sense (he'd just shown support but was giving the BBC's impartial view from the 'other side').

Plus, JC is known for saying controversial things, purely to get a reaction, regardless of if he actually believes his own tripe... How this has been blown out of all proportion is playing straight into his hands! He only said it to get a rise, so what do they do.....?!!! :face palm:

Oh, it doesn't work both ways... You should know that. He can't say a silly ill thought out comment, but everyone else can. :?

I, personally, would be FAR more offended being compared to Gadaffi then being told I should be shot in front of my family...

I missed all this but... I don't agree with much of what Clarkson says, but then I don't think he agrees with much of it either.

Done a couple before, but this one doesnt count. The thread is still showing in General and that is where I posted it :)

I moved it, but I left the shadow topic in place so it shows up in both. I used to uncheck that option, then I remembered that people can't find their own threads when I do that.

A tad late on the subject as Clarkson has already apologised for his "execute them" comment but I don't think he should have. When it was brought up on the Chris Moyles show, it was quickly shot down to avoid anymore trouble but I still don't think Jeremy should be in any trouble.
Why?
1: Well, it's Jeremy Clarkson. He says things like that for effect.
2: If he was being serious, so what? It's not like he actually did it, it was just free speech. I thought we were in a country where you were free to say whatever you want

But yet whenever someone says anything remotely off script, they are instantly asked to hand in their resignation. Exactly what does Jeremy's job as a Top Gear presenter have to do with his opinion on handling strikers? Yet people were quick to call for his job and head on a stick.

I could kind of understand Jonathan Ross losing his Radio show but not people asking for Jeremy's job.

In my opinion, people are way too quick to react and demand for Seppuku.

What does everyone else think?

EDIT: Fail, didn't know it was already talked about ¬_¬

It's the same narrative though, isn't it?

Clarkson says something questionable.

Charity gets offended.

Charity says it's outrageous.

Blah Blah Blah.

Just cos they offended don't mean they right - Ricky Gervais said that, and he has a point. Clarkson just trivialises it and doesn't use his words carefully, and he's a * for that, oh yeah. But.... Now that he has publicised the charity and brought their cause to the fore, I'm talking about it, many more will, (building on the momentum created by the sad news of Gary Speed recently) and that can't be a bad thing. Suicidals behaving like Lemmings I agree is a bad thing, but there really is no dignified way to go. At the same time though, give the train drivers a break.

So in future when he goes off on one, I think it best that we debate rather than sound the foghorn in the name of 'offense'.

I don't really rate or watch 'Life's too short' but I sort of understand Gervais's message, about everyone jumping (pardon me) to the defence of dwarves, as if they knew what it felt like to be shorter.

Hit him in the pocket, don't buy his DVD etc, Oh look, here's a link:

Why say he's that? No need.

I thought it was funny, which was intended, it also has a degree of truth to it.

I am all for a laugh, life is to short to call dwarfs, well short and be accussed of something 'orrible.

I watched the thing with Peter Kay on Friday, and the dwarfs on the stag night, " How far away are they?" not seen it before I did LOL.

What ever though, all these namby pamby PC lot with pent up sexual frustration from there Victorian Methodist Upbringing, can keep banging on if they like, it makes no difference to me and my life, except when it makes the Weather late and Carol Kirkwood has to rush, which I don't like, you can't rush an Asmatic.......[where does the "h" go, I am sure there is a "h" is Asma..... * scholatic 70's education policy!, or is it a "t" yeah might be a t and a h asthma, that looks better now)

None of this is anywhere NEAR as close to the bone as that German stand up Henning Venn on Dave's One Night Stand the other night. You want controversial, have a look at that!
