Can anyone confirm: are the podcasts that were put up over xmas/new year literally just the marathon highlights shows with the news and music removed? Or are they missing some other stuff that was broadcast?

The podcasts are the highlights of the highlights. One podcast being the highlights of one hour of the Boxing day show. There are extra interveiws with guests and crew from the marathon show aswell.

I use Wavepad, but Ben uses Audacity. I think they basically do the same thing - but I'm on an old version of Wavepad (3.05 I think). I didn't like the changes they made during the upgrade so I went back to the old one. One thing I really like about the version I use is it starts playing the file as soon as it's uploaded, so I can start a show uploading, go into the other room to make a cup of tea and I'll hear it start when it's uploaded. The newer version didn't do that, so I had to keep checking it, and you know what they say about a watched pot. I dunno if Audacity does that.

I've gone with AVS audio editor. I'm trying to edit the boxing day show into one part with the music edited out. This will be my first attempt at doing it so some tips would be welcomed.
I'd like to contribute to this thread as I'm always on it so I have this grand plan of editing the long shows. Christmas all dayers, marathon etc. I won't jump the gun, I'll see how the boxing day show goes first though.

To get it into 4 parts you first wanna add each one separately in order. And then there should be an option somewhere to align the tracks. I know there is on audacity. And personally, when I edit a song or news out I fade it out then create about 20 seconds of silence for the first 20 - 30 seconds of the song so I can easily see where I am editing then find where Chris starts talking again and fade in just before then just drag the selection in between the 2 fades and cut it if that makes any sense at all.

I just fade out for 3 seconds, then chop out the song and fade back in for 3. Some of the older edited shows use shorter fades and I find that a bit jarring. I've also become an expert in zooming in really closely on the track so I can chop precisely, like if I'm trying to start a sound clip at a point where they start discussing a particular topic. With enough zoom in, Dom can go "I know" and a millisecond later Chris will say "now what about this", and I can find that exact point and cut the clip. It took me a while to learn that!

Seems like everyone does it differently. I tend to fade songs out/in at the first beat of a bar. And I'll fade the news to the point just after Chris says the time, or where Dom says the first headline (depending on whether it's on the hour or half hour), and fade the news back in just before Dom says the time. But you can do it however you want really.

I'm going for a 5 second fade out from the last person to speak and a 5 second fade in towards the first person to speak. I'm keeping the news headlines in but the main news out (If that makes sense). I'm onto part 3 but I only figured out how to do the fade in/out earlier  so I'm going to go back and re-do parts 1 & 2. Closer to the time (Well, once I've finished part 3, It's taking forever) I may ask how to put it on archive so you all can judge my effort.
As a side note. How you all get the shows edited soo quickly is beyond me. :)

What would also be really good would be someone else to do sound clip requests, cos Ben and Ian are busy editing full shows. Which of course there are thousands of, but you may have seen how stroppy some people can get when their requests don't get fulfilled (*cough*Boy Wonder*cough*). You do need permission from Chris to upload to the sound vault, but sometimes people request stuff that isn't really vault-worthy anyway so it's fine to just use megaupload or similar.
