Just wondering if anyone watches it? Yes, it's horrendous, but it's strangely compelling. It's rather hilarious watching utter tubes show themselves up week in week out.

I watched it for the first time tonight (along with Chris and Andi's twitcast). Oh my gosh, I did not know that television like that existed. Now granted I prefer shows like As Time Goes By, Deal or No Deal, One Foot in the Grave and the like (I also listen to Radio 2 a lot) but I didn't even know channels would sink so low as to even consider airing something as crude as that as a mainstream show.

Am I *that* out of touch with the world that I'm shocked that it's considered popular mainstream entertainment?!

Exactly. Some of their soundbites are amazing too. "They say absence makes the heart grow fonder, but absence makes me slightly slaggy."

I just love how it is exactly the same every week as well. And all the slags go round insulting their fellow slags by calling them slags...! Pure genius!

It's entertainment at its finest really. I've watched Jersey Shore too, and while I'm a fan of it, Geordie Shore trumps it just for pure hilarity. Not many people give Geordie Shore a chance, but what they don't realise is just how brilliant it is. Wetter than an otter's pocket!

I have never watched Jersey Shore but can't imagine it to be as good as Geordie Shore. I love how they often subtitle the Geordie accent as well...!

Haha aye, and often the subtitles aren't actual words, they're the Geordie versions of words.

No. No no no no. I don't watch much telly anyway I suppose, but when I do I really don't want it to be stuff like that.

Never seen it, watched 5 mins of towie once, saw the opening credits of desperate Scouse wives, but the wife likes made in Chelsea...which is quite addictive!

Never seen it but I do know someone who goes to the same gym as some of the TOWIE cast (who I wouldn't recognise if they bit me). Jodie Marsh goes there too apparently and Lucie says that she looks even worse in real life.

These programmes are all a massive pile of turd and should be confined to the scrapheap, I REALLY hate them.

Also, As Time Goes By was shit. I know it had two massive heavyweights of British acting in it, but it was still shit.

I've never seen any of these programmes. I've seen trailers and that's quite enough!

I dislike that they're taking opportunities away from real actors - who would do a much better job if they were asked to create their own 'people' and stay in character for 12-18 months.

If it was improv by skilled actors, i'd definitely watch.

It's kind of like when the new series of Big Brother would start and I would watch and think "please don't put in an idiot from the North East".

When Geordie Shore started, I changed to thinking "please don't put in an idiot from my town", which of course they have, so I'll have to settle for "please don't put in an idiot from my street".

Haha, which one's from your town? There are some who are bigger tubes than others. And one's from Middlesbrough, the horror!

You're not alone, I hate these shows as well, I'd rather watch Red Dwarf, Blackadder, QI, How I Met Your Mother, Luther, TV Burp, The Big Bang Theory or Top Gear, to give several examples, that watch that tedious & dull shite.

I did used to watch Big Brother (Series 1-3 when it was decent) and I'm A Celebrity (when it first came on) but other than that I don't bother.

Agree on both points, the first I've stated above, the second yes Dench & Palmer are superb actors but the programme never made me laugh unfortunately.

Same here, thing is these programmes are responsible for the cut in sitcoms & dramas, funny when you look back to the junking of old Hancock, Doctor Who, Likely Lads, etc. they were the results of the strict Equity policies which stated a programme could only be repeated once & within a three year period. Now we have endless repeats of a dozen or so shows & a fraction of new/original comedy & drama, how it's all changed, and not for the better (barring obviously that they no longer junk old programmes, although I could think of one or two that could do with junking).

To be fair I was 17-20 when those series aired, if I watched them back now I'd probably think they were a load of shite now.
