Tim goes for the above, and as ever...

  • To play, post a song from the theme (or year) in this thread with a youtube link if possible. Please be very nice to me and also post the title in the following format: Song Artist - Song Title (this saves me time when making the poll)
  • Do not post a song that has already been chosen, and please try not to change your answer, though if you really want to, you can. Also, only one entry each.
  • 3-5 days after the thread was originally posted, a poll will go up with all the entries (that qualify for the category).
  • For the next 3 days the forum can vote on their favourite option, with one vote each. Voting for your own choice is frowned upon but not disallowed.
  • When the poll closes, the winner will be invited to choose the next category. In the event of a tie the first entrant (who was joint first) to get back to me will be allowed to choose. If the winner does not pick a choice within 4 or 5 days, the runner-up will be asked choose.

Well, I am a massive Green Day fan and I realised I've basically never chosen them on here. And I didn't wanna go for the traditional Basket Case or Good Riddance which comes up loads. So it was between this or King For a Day. Brain Stew almost came close as well.

Exploding Alkali Metals, Bunsen Burners, Mrs Bowman's cleavage...

I was thinking it was late 80's so wasn't really going to argue with the bobby dazzler. Turns out it's late 70's.

More off course than a blind man driving a golf buggy.

I'll go for Red Hot Chili Peppers - Under the Bridge. They're pretty pap now, but there's no denying their utter brilliance back in the day.

Oasis - Cigarettes & Alcohol

I keep thinking "ooh yes that one" but then wondering whether they qualify as rock. An awful lot of my choices might be indie rather than rock - but even so I am going with Tea Bartender and the Thief by Stereophonics because I can;t be bothered to trawl through any more of the nineties to remind myself what the hell there was.

I wouldn't say Oasis were rock or metal - although I do like them - and I'm not sure about the Stereophonics either. But it's a very arbitrary distinction.

To be fair I could accept Stereophonics not being allowed in - its up to Tim I suppose, its his category! I'll choose another if you want Tim?

I read that Kelly Jones once said that nearly all their influences were old rock bands like AC/DC & Rush, so i don't see why not.

As oxymorons go Best 90's Rock / Metal is up there with Millitary intelligence.

Oasis and Sterophonics, both Rock, as I don't like them.

Greasy Tatoed Biker types might disagree, but hey, they smell.
