You sound elitist.

Well I wasn't complaining for him - if he's happy to do it, he's happy to do it, it's nothing to do with me - I was just a bit surprised.

Because I like to claim your tax money and make babies with women I hardly know.

That, or the forthcoming end of the tax/holiday year :D

Me too! What a coincidence.

No, I just fancied using a bit of my annual leave for a break from work, there's no reason for it.

I enjoyed it. It was very different to the breakfast show of course, but it was good to hear Moyles on his own without too many voices competing for air time. The breakfast show has been below par for me lately and this made a nice change.

On another point it just showed the massive gap in ability between Moyles and Greg James. Moyles did that show effortlessly today and and it was ten times better than what Greg does. Greg James is not even close to being mentioned in the same calibre as Chris Moyles when Moyles is anything like on form.

I have to agree that the breakfast show has been pretty average lately and see myself listening to less of it and more of the old shows. Those shows are making me laugh and are entertaining where most of the stuff on the current shows isn't.

This week is not going to help matters with a guest in every day. Couldn't care less about Rizzle Kicks, Sugar is alright, Bishop might be good and Holly I don't know about since I haven't listened to her previous appearances.

Yeah agree maybe come the end of this contract and the likely end of breakfast it could be time to ditch the 'zoo format' and 'go solo'

I really enjoyed the extra show today, and it was a nice little bonus that it was on today, as I'm another one with the day off so I could listen to it all live.

I think Moyles played a blinder today. He's given the haters something to think about, by showing that he's not too big an ego to muck in and help out. Let's not forget that at some point, however near or far away that may be, he will be looking for a new gig, and demonstrating that he is a team player will do him no harm, as well as a great reminder of how effortlessly he can pull off a music show with next to no prep and make it interesting.

It was interesting to hear how the breakfast jingles worked during the daytime - it really showed off how weak the regular daytime Radio 1 imaging is (I presume they haven't bothered to make Chris version of the standard jingles otherwise he'd have used them for this show) and how putting the "big" Movie or Jazz beds behind a feature as crap as the Ten to Two thing really lift it.

Greg will be pleased as well - there's a saying in radio that you never take time off because if the person they get to cover is better than you they'll get your gig. Having the biggest name on the station cover for you pretty much means that isn't going to happen.

Was that the first time Chris has done a early afternoon slot on Radio 1, and does that mean he's now done every daytime (and early morning!) slot on the station as well? Obviously I'm excluding the marathon shows from my thinking here.

Just wondering if Chris gets paid any more then by doing another show apart from his own ie covering for Greg James. I know he is freelance so I don't know how the whole contract works in that situation then.
