....But with Stephen Mulhern.
http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sh ... hrase.html
CLASSIC gameshow Catchphrase is being brought back by ITV2 with Stephen Mulhern signed up to be the new Roy Walker.

Vernon Kay had been linked to the role but after five years hosting Britain’s Got Talent spin-off show, Stephen landed the job.

A pal said: “Stephen is over the moon that he is going to front the revival of such an iconic show.

“He feels he has worked his apprenticeship at ITV2 and has been rewarded with a fantastic opportunity. He can’t wait to get started. He’s really excited about it and has been watching old reruns.

“I’m sure he’ll come up with some of his own catchphrases, although ‘Say what you see’ may slip in there now and then.”

Belfast-born Roy hosted the show from 1986-99 and still keeps his hand in providing the voice for Chris Moyles’ Car Park Catchphrase on Radio 1.

Roy Walker is irreplaceable - goes without saying. Should be interesting.

I can't make my mind up whether chrisjames is just an immature kid who doesn't know what he is saying, our a grown man on a wind-up.

I actually agree with him here though. Roy's soundbites and songs are often still some of the biggest laughs of the show for me. The Sean Paul song was fantastic.

I think the point being made is that we all agree with him, without needing to say it. As if tCMS would consider bringing someone other than Roy in for it... Wouldn't happen, doesn't need saying.

I try and avoid all things cj related. Put him on my foes list so as not to see his posts, keep away from topics started by him etc.
I just felt compelled to chip in with my views on his position on the forum.

^This is him in hilarious mode. So funny in fact, that it warps the structural reality of humour and somehow comes across as a pile of pish.
He's clever like that.

^This is impulsive mode. He can't bear the idea of people saying detrimental things about other people without consequence and as such felt a certain level of disdain towards certain members of this forum disagreeing with his point of view thus causing him to take offence with the whole Chris Moyles universe.
He's mature like that.

^This is regretful mode. In realising what he had originally posted may cause offence (which it did, seriously, resulting in a near mass burning at the stake) he replaced it with an apology.
He's sincere like that.

I did have a wee think about that once you posted and would have to say he is going above and beyond the call of duty for internet trolls worldwide to maintain that persona for so long. I can only come to the conclusion that he is more the former than the latter.

Mibee's I'm wrong and he is indeed the master of the wind up and as such has me hooked like a kipper. If this is the case, I salute him and will tender my resignation immediately.

I, shockingly enough, have discussed cj and his masturbatory technique before.

In a PM to DTJ a while back I wrote:He, on the other hand, probably sits in a darkened room bawling his eyes out, masturbating furiously over pictures of Princess Diana and listening to Enya Lp's.

I believe he uses this forum to achieve an erection and finishes off over Di's face.

My previous previous post wasn't smutty.
Big Chrys replied with a 'self pleasuring' response.
I, as stated, had also mentioned in conversation how I thought Mr James 'self pleasured' and found this odd and felt compelled to share.
I will try and refrain from smutting as much in the future.

Your smut is too graphic - whereas smut in general makes most people smile and snigger, yours can often leave you with unwanted mental images and feeling a bit nauseous.

IT’S good news for fans of classic gameshow Catchphrase as TV bosses discuss its return to the screen.

But it’s not right ....they have yet to ask original host and Blackpool favourite Roy Walker to take on presenting duties.

The Gazette understands ITV is discussing piloting the show, which is owned by production company DRG and was pitched to international broadcasters earlier this year.

It would be an updated version of the popular family programme, last aired in 2002, with new 3D graphics and a fresh end game.

And today Roy told The Gazette he would love to go back on the show.

He said: “That would be one phone call I would really look forward to, it would be lovely to go back.

“I don’t think they will ask me though, I had a long time on the show, I was there for 14 years, I left on my 60th birthday.”

Roy, who now lives in Lytham, said he thinks the gameshow will be a huge success if it is brought back to our screens.

He said: “It’s had a long rest and not a day goes by without someone saying to me ‘bring back Catchphrase’, everyone seems to love those family shows.”

The gameshow shot to prominence in the 1980s with Roy asking two contestants to guess a familiar phrase depicted by a computer animation.

Walker urged contestants to “say what you see” and consoled them if they were wrong with the knowledge that “it’s good, but it’s not right”.

He believes an updated version of the show would be a success, as long as audience favourite Mr Chips still had a place in it.

He added: “I had one up on everyone as computers were new then and people didn’t have them at home so computer graphics were brand new.

“Kids now are addicted to graphics and there would be so much more we could do with the images, it would look great.

“But Mr Chips would have to stay, it was me that thought up Mr Chips, I named him after a computer chip.”

Catchphrase ran for more than 300 episodes on ITV from 1986 to 2002.

ITV2 shouldn't rule out Roy, but perhaps it would be better if he's remembered fondly for the original run. It remains to be seen whether ITV will handle such an iconic show with care, keeping Mr Chips etc.

Every time I have seen Roy in recent times he looks like he has been on the gin. Gin+Catchphrase = Ratings

I think I may be the only person on here who has never found Roy Walker - either on telly or on the Moyles show - remotely funny.

Cathchphrase was actually terrible. I always thought that's why they adapted the idea to use on the show - taking an already rubbish concept and making it even worse by removing the visual element.
