The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Am I the only one who thinks it's weird that Chris without fail always says he's a nervous flyer but any chance he gets, he's off to New York? Surely that doesn't make sense...right? He's had Paul McKenna "try" to hypnotise him, amongst other things. So...how is he still "afraid"? but yet still flies more often than I get fresh air?
Would I be right in assuming it's just for embellishment or is it genuine? If it's genuine, does that make sense?

I suppose his love of New York outweighs his nerves or fear of flying.

"....return to the house to see that @british_airways have demoted me... To Bronze!! #howrude."

Yes it's fair to say he's a frequent flyer, all I can think is, we all have to do unpleasant things to get what we want.

This is one of the best music videos ever though:

there are plenty of things i like that i would go out of my way to do something unpleasant for.
i shall keep those things undisclosed though.

There's a great deal of difference between having a genuine phobia as regards flying and just not liking it. Chris is firmly in the latter category - people with a real fear of flying simply couldn't jump on a plane and go anywhere. I know what he means though, I hate flying and it does make me unaccountably nervous and uncomfortable - hardly a phobia though.

I do think it's a bit odd. I'm not a nervous flyer, but I can't stand all the waiting around for flights and then the high possibility of a delayed flight with even more waiting, or of being trapped on the plane with a load of screaming babies and kids who are running up and down the aisle, being squashed into my seat next to a fat person or someone who won't shut up trying to make conversation etc. so I rarely fly just for those reasons. I couldn't imagine flying as frequently as Chris does for purely holiday reasons (as opposed to for an important family event say) if I was really scared that the plane was going to crash the whole time I was in the air. Sounds like unnecessary torture to me!

There's not really many other ways to get to the US without flying. At least if you don't want it to take four weeks.

Chris used to have a fear of flying, but it has been (mostly) cured by hypnosis from Paul McKenna.

I used to worry about flying, but at one point in my life was flying so often, it became routine and I don't care at all. At one point I was flying twice a week.
The same with creepy crawlies -- when I moved to the country, there were so many spiders and other things wandering around the house as soon as you opened a door or window, I soon grew to ignore them.

As with most phobias, the cure often comes from gradually increased exposure to the thing you are phobic of.

This is what a genuine phobia/fear of flying is.
