What I hoped to get across was that I prefer the show with Dave there, even when he's being an arse - Tim, can I borrow your "fail"?

IMO the CM show would be 100% better if Chris had chosen a genuinely witty person to be with him on the show. Instead he chose the dullest, most unfunny character he could find.
Come on, Vitty is so dull and unfunny he was given the "comedy" name which was meant sarcastically. He is so lacking in character he even adopted a silly laugh to attract attention in the same way some teenage girls do. Truly the last resort for a truly desperate man. Add to that, his technique of trying to be funny by being unfunny has been dragging on for years. It was funny for about five seconds.

Who knows, perhaps Chris would have felt threatened if there was an "equal" on the show, preferring sycophants instead. It's a shame, I am sure Chris could easily hold his own with another real character. It would have added a dynamic to the show we just don't have.

Maybe a redraft of the board rules is in order to include the possibility of exclusion/suspension of those who post only to consistently & unfairly criticise individuals on the show/board, to the point of maliciousness (as defined by other board members).

That'd be Chris' decision. I don't have a problem with it to be honest - I always come down on the side of free speech. And one person's malicious is another's mildly caustic.

Oh I see, make a new rule that the forum will ban people that this character "chrysostom" does not like. If she/he does not like me, simply block me, as I have done with her/him. I only saw what she/he wrote because it was quoted in Nicola's post.

Unlike her/him, I have never levelled abuse at anyone on this forum. I back up all my opinions. Are we all to love every person on the show, all of the time!?

Forums are about free speech. If the rules are re-written to deny members this, then it becomes something else altogether.

We've had this debate loads of times before, and people have often suggested that I should ban people and/or delete threads cos they don't like the content, and I rarely do. The exception was QWERTY08 who said such awful things about Matt Fincham that Aled posted asking him to stop, and even then he wasn't banned for that reason, it was because he started nasty threads attacking me personally after I suggested that he might tone it down (and warned him for text-speak).

I personally believe that Mr Bedford has a right to say what he wants about Comedy Dave, even when I don't agree with it. I have no idea how one would run a system in which statements crossing an arbitrary line of criticism are banned. But regardless of my beliefs, my job as moderator is to stick to the rules and that's what I do. I don't think Chris (Harris) has any intention of changing them, but you'd have to ask him.

Hilarious. Basically I think the constant negativity you spout towards Dave is not only irritating, but gets the forum a bad reputation. When some forum members from cm.net were asked to go down to the studios, it was clear from certain team members' reactions that Dave really did not like this site because of some of the stuff said about him (not all by you).

Technically forums aren't about free speech - they're about speech. And as each forum has it's own owners and moderators, the criteria for what's acceptable differs from forum to forum.

If you reread what I wrote (which you won't) you'll see that I didn't say 'I should have the power to ban who I don't like', and I don't think there's been a case where I have levelled abuse at anyone. Your opinions are 'backed up' with objective statements, not fact.

But also surely, if your posts aren't overly negative or spiteful then you've got nothing to worry about! :P

Also, I'm a him (thought it would save you/it time). I shall take your advice & hide your posts going forward.

That's fine, and as a mod you should remain impartial, but as a user with no authority, I think it's ok for me to bemoan that the forum rules don't allow people who use the forum (on the whole) to spite bile aimed at a particular team member. If the rules can't be changed then that's fine - still think they should be, but I'm not particularly bothered about it!

Yep, I got the same vibe when I met him :)

Everyone likes different people on the team, I personally find Dave the perfect match with Dominic. they bounce off each other with ease. I personally don't like Tina, I feel she has a constant want to get on a mic and be on air, and in the argument with Aled and Chris about going to see phillip sodoku (spelling sorry) stirred things up massively. now, I now don't want this thread to suddenly start on at Tina now, because people on this Forum will like her. its a personal thing.

Nothing wrong with Tina or Dave. Maybe if a few individuals were nicer them then the site would be looked at more favourably.

I wasnt forcing my opinions on anyone or anything, I generally keep my opinions about Tina quiet, I just used her as a point, everyone likes different people.

To be fair, what you've said about Tina isn't incorrect - or overly evocative. No harm, no foul.

I wasnt referring to your opinion directly it's more aimed at that Dave Bedford guy who goes out of his way to be offensive.

Just to balance things out, Dave's my favourite member of the team. The shows just aren't the same when he's off

I agree with you, he's my favourite too. I don't expect him to be more or less funny than any other team member and (for me) he fits this brief whilst entertaining me as a major part of the show every day. I think he seems like a genuinely nice guy who you could have a good laugh with down the pub.

Mm, course it's fine - although I think you mean you 'bemoan that they DO allow users to spit bile' :)

I personally love Dave's humour and his writing, and I wouldn't be so dedicated to the Tedious if I wasn't. Not to mention that I schlepped up to Bolton to meet him and paid £12 for his book!

Not only do I think Dave is great but recently I believe he was making the best production input to the show.

To add a bit of balance though, I thought the Sweepstake thing last week was shit. It's the same thing every 2 years (less if they do it for the Grand National) and the fact the team haven't spotted it or are playing stupid to have some content for the show is massively irritating.
