Nick Grimshaw is in a different league to Greg James. I like Grimshaw more and more with every show I hear him do. The only show I have enjoyed as much as his this past week has been Sara Cox today, and fortunately she is in for Fearne Cotton on Thursday and Friday this week.

Greg is clearly being groomed to take over from Moyles, but he has changed his style so much in the past six months or so that it will be interesting to see if he can carry on being as seemingly popular as he is in this new slot. He is not my cup of tea at all.

Not necessarily... didn't Aled tweet about it? Thereby driving Moyles listeners to their site. This is how the Mail's website is the most popular newspaper website in the world - because of the attention it stirs up on Twitter, either by people like Aled tweeting about it or - more likely - people being outraged about, say, Samantha Brick.

Emmy wrote:That is highly likely. I read an article about the DM written in The New Yorker recently which contained some gems of quotes and information about their online site such as;

''We just decided to go hell-for-leather for ratings," an anonymous source involved in the launch told the writer, Lauren Collins. "Anything relating to climate change, American politics, Muslims – we just chased the numbers very ruthlessly."

'Editorial meetings are referred to as the "vagina monologues" because Dacre (the editor) uses the c-word to describe his staff.'

'When Liz Jones wrote a column about stealing her husband's sperm to impregnate herself, she gained the moniker Jizz Loans.'

I do love that site though, in a really guilty pleasures type of way.

Sorry to drag this back up, but I found a perfect graphic to illustrate the point:

Cracking find.
Basically, the DM is trolling. And it uses the effect of being trolled to bring "fans" in.

If there is any "natural successor to Moyles" currently on Radio 1, I think you'd have to go with Grimmy. He's got the banter, the natural relationship with the listener and the adaptability to be able to do different types of shows.

This might have been discussed before but no-one ever seems to talk about Matt Edmondson for this or similarly high profile roles. He's definitely got an edge (wit? sarcasm?) that Moyles has but Greg doesn't and I always enjoy it when he sits in for others plus he fits well into the R1 demographic. But I don't hear much about him rising up the ranks in R1. Thoughts anyone.

By the way, if Gemma Cairney gets the breakfast show I would cut my ears off (or possibly less dramatically, switch shows). Nice girl but Kiss100/Capital material in my book. The "Soooo OTM" jingle makes me weep with frustration.

Seriously, constant reviving of threads just to post updates on when Nick Grimshaw is on radio 1 is not necessary. People can follow him on twitter or check the radio 1 website if they want to know this stuff.

Why is that remotely significant on this forum? Why would anyone on a Chris Moyles fansite give a flying * who covers Scott Mills' show?

Stop quoting him please. Pleeeeease. Just go 'Oi * baws. Stop boring us with irrelevant mundane shite.'

CJ. Keep posting boring bollocks about Chris to your hearts content and I'll leave you alone. It is a Chris Moyles forum after all but start this shit and I'll honestly lose my * nut.

Thank you.

I only mentioned it because there has been some speculation that Nick is a possible successor to Chris on breakfast and the increasing amount of daytime stuff he's been getting recently might lend some credence to that possibility.I won't mention him again though if it's annoying people that much

I think that it would be a better idea if you don't mention anything at all.
