I have this feeling he might try and launch his off-radio career a bit more now. Which is worrying in itself, how many DJs have successfully managed that jump? With the exception of Chris Tarrant and (depending on how you look at it) Noel Edmunds I'm having trouble finding many more!

When is the Jesus Christ Superstar play? Is that any time soon? He'd be rehearsing, etc, for that quite a while before I'd assume? That would fill the days after September for him. :3

I would so listen to that.
I would PAY to subscribe to that.

It starts in September. He has some time off in August, which he'll still be taking as he said in his statement this morning, so I would think he'll be using that to prepare for his part.

I can't think where else he will fit in the schedule. Unless they look at mid morning or early afternoon?

Would be good to have him in the evening similar to what Radcliffe did on Radio 2. Not sure what radio rules are with regards to a watershed and whatnot, but would be cool to have Chris and the team doing an "uncut2 show where they could be a bit more racy.

But then Radio 1 would have to get rid of some of the specialist shows that no one listens to, so can't see that happening.

Sounds right to me, please let Dom & Dave be with him.

The way I understand it is that British radio has no watershed. Because it's seen as easy media reach people of any age can listen at any time of the day. So they play it safe and just avoid Effing and Jeffing completley.

The Newsbeat article suggests that Chris will return to Radio1, but perhaps other stations will take the opportunity to poach him.
Where would you prefer him to go?

Out of the options I'd go for 5Live but I can't see it happening. I think he'll either be given Scott's slot when he is pensioned off in the New Year or he will just be day time cover.

Big Boss Ben on the Media Show (Radio 4) said they surprised people today and may surprise people again about Chris' next move (I think he said in the next few weeks).

I've voted for weekend slot because it would make sense for Huw Stephens to be the one to replace Grimshaw.

I think that would be fun. I love podcasts.

I don't particularly want to vote for any of those options. I would like him to go to a late night slot, hopefully with Dave going with him. I don't really care where he goes so long as he gets to do the show that HE wants to do.

Whatever happens I cant see him taking the Scott Mills shift. Surely that is the least prestigious slot on the daytime schedule?

I think it's a near certainty that we wont be hearing him anywhere for the rest of the year though after he leaves breakfast.

Well Ben Cooper confirmed on 5live that he will offer Chris a new show on Radio1. But he didn't anything other than that.

That would be a brilliant show (plus you could either listen live or on demand as an alternate to Grimmy) however I just can't see them (on R1) giving him a slot on the 'dark side'.

The Steve Wright slot would be excellent on R2 but that's a long time away (if ever). I do hope though that Ben was being genuine when he said they'd surprise people and the new show is more than just a way of just marking time until his contract expires.

Chris did a very popular late night show on Capital. Is it possible he could take over grimmys slot? At least he wouldnt have to play play listed music which he hates!

Incidentaly the musical finishes on october 21 so he doesn't really need to take any time off before starting the new show

whatever he may say about the playlist Chris is not a specialist music DJ. If he went to Grimmy's slot he wouldn't suddenly be allowed to play Nik Kershaw and Shed Seven and is not going to be 'breaking new acts'. It would be a very brave move that would go against everything R1 has been about since the Bannister era.
