The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Another newbie registering because the show has ended.

I was really shocked yesterday - thought we had at least until 2014! The music before the news was probably a bit of a giveaway. Very sad news.

Thought I was more of a casual listener, but found podcasts still on my Itunes from 2006, so I have been listening for over 6 years! When my commute was shortened started listening in the evenings on iplayer while I made dinner, going to miss that so much now. My favourite bit is the first rambling half hour - what other radio show has that?!

Really want to know about where the team will go next. Think Chris will be fine, and Tina and Dave with other projects, but for some reason feel really bad for Aled - he seems to work so hard! Will also miss Dom loads, with his made-up weather.

Have found all the archives of the shows - is there a thread for old podcasts?

Thanks, manage to stumble across it on my own. Now I have something to fill the void come September :)

No, me too as well. I also wouldn't really be listening to older shows normally either. It's probably the same for them now as they're on air too.

Yeah, I feel different about the whole thing now. I'm getting even more irritated when they bang on about the olympic torch, cos I know we're on borrowed time and I want to hear funny stuff! I do feel better overall now though, I'm coming to terms with it.

It has really start to sink in now and a find myself thinking about what there will be no more of. No pub quiz, golden hour, McFly day, carpark catchphrase, jingles, cheesy song...... The list goes on.
I'm finding I'm getting more upset about it as the week goes on.
To me, the show 'sounds different' now, whether that is true or whether it is just how I feel about them finishing, I don't know. I never imagined I would get so upset!

On thinking about it, the last thing they should play on the last show is the terrific show theme done by the orchestra. I can't find it in the sound archive, but any time that gets played on the show it's fantastic. Play that at the end and there'll be tears across the country.

Oh God, me too. I've already cried, but then I'm ridiculously emotional anyway.

As I'm not a fan at all of Nick Grimshaw, on the way home from work I've been listening to CMS podcasts. The last 3 were the best bits of the marathon show. Just listening to that again makes me appreciate how good a broadcaster CM is/was. Although his record has been broken several times since (the latest being 185 hours!!!!), I think it goes to show that even with a sleep deprived 52 hour show, he was still able to keep a nation entertained.

Oh well, let's get ready for the next generic, conveyor belt DJ to front the breakfast show.

Is there a sweepstake running anywhere on how long Grimey will last?
Longer or shorter than Mark & Lard's tenure??

I'm not looking forward to the final show at all. In fact the final week will be a tough listen despite the fact that I'm sure it will be a great weeks radio. It is just going to be way too sad.

Ha, I cry at the drop of a hat. I'm very much a sterotypical girl in that respect :)

M&L never wanted the job though, I get the feeling Grimmy actually does.

It'll be very emotional, I may need to take more than a day off work.

The weirdo in me just listened to "Morning Movie - Up To News Bed" and overlaid the pips from this Wikipedia article. I hit the vocal perfectly too.

No, that's a bed. The one I'm thinking of is the main show theme, played by an orchestra.

If the pressure of being the host of the flagship show doesn't get to him and if he handles the early starts, I expect grimmy to do a great job and I think he will be in the job for a good few years.
He is without doubt the correct choice to replace Moyles.

Ahhh okay, my bad!

Another example of having too much time on my hands, I ripped the up to news bed and mixed in the pips in Audition...

Ah ha!

It's that, but I'm sure you can get it without the jingle singers.

The last show is going to be a pretty horrible listen in my opinion. Lets face it, all the team are going to be in tears... its going to be very weird. I just SO hope that the last show is at the end of September, and not the 21st!
