If he has received the message, I certainly wouldn't message him again so soon. If he chooses to respond, he will.

It could be worth another message a couple of weeks after the show has ended if he hasn't replied by then, but I, personally, wouldn't message him again yet.

I don't see what difference waiting a couple of months will make to anything.

That's my opinion anyway.

It also might be worth grabbing all the videos and general multimedia from the website before the show ends, because you can bet it'll be purged from the Internet in time. Try getting audio/video from the afternoon show from the official site - you can't, the multimedia has been removed.

I'd also quite like to see the editing of the files we have continue because once the show finishes, I sort of feel this forum will ebb away somewhat. It's always been fuelled by Chris having a daily presence on the national airwaves over the last 15 years (by the way Chris' 15 year anniversary at Radio 1 is in a couple of weeks time) - that's not likely to be happening once the breakfast show finishes. It'll be nice for us all to have a full archive before we all get bored and move on. A bit downbeat I know, but it's what I'm feeling at the moment. Hopefully Chris will stay on the air in some way in a regular form, and I'll be proved wrong.

about grabbing the video's from the website. I have already done that as got software to do so can put on my ipod. I can upload them if you want me to when show finishes

I have stopped editing for a while due to a family event. But I will continue in the near future.

Is there a way I can save fade in to fade out with the section I want gone as a favourite feature or is it just a case of putting the times for fade and fade out then cut out the middle bit?

So I just tried to open one of slaphead's 2008 edits in wavepad and got the message that the file is "possibly corrupt or not a true mpeg3 file". I know they play fine in winamp or whatever - why doesn't wavepad like them? Any ideas?

First of all, I realise there's a sticky topic about full shows. Stick with me

I started listening to Chris in 2000 and in my opinion from that point onwards until he left the afternoon show he was at his best. Still love him, maybe it's nostalgia, but that's just how I feel.

Now, in the archives there's a few but not many shows from that time considering he was on 5 days a week. I want that to change.

For every COMPLETE MONTH we get from the afternoon show from those three years I will donate £20 to a charity of this forum's choice. For those doing the maths, that's over £700 if we can get all three years together.

How can we do this? Would Aled be able to release them from the archive, unedited, minus the music? Does anyone have them on tape anywhere and just hasn't bothered to upload them? Let's brainstorm and enjoy the golden age of Moyles together.

Merged. There is already an ongoing discussion here about getting shows from Aled - you should have read that first. I personally don't agree with taking charity donations but that would be open to debate I guess.

Turns out it's all of the 2008 ones - a soundclip disaster for me :(

I tried opening 5th Aug 2008 with Sound Forge, and playing it in XM Player, and it worked fine. Have you tried checking for an update for Wavepad? Or maybe reinstalling it? Or you could try Audacity, or one of the many other freeware wave editors:

I'm deliberately using an old version of wavepad cos I didn't like the updates. I'm really reluctant to change to a different program as I know wavepad inside out, but I guess if I want to clip anything from those edits I'll have to! Grr. So annoying. Especially considering I have no issues with shows from any of the other years.

I'm not sure what's causing it. Maybe it's caused by the encoding method or something that slaphead was using, but codecs and encoding tend to cause problems more often with video rather than audio. You could try batch-converting the mp3's to a different kind of mp3's, or maybe mp3>wav>mp3 using Realplayer Converter or something. You would lose a bit of quality, but it probably wouldn't be that noticeable. Then Wavepad might be able to open them.

You'll need to create the batch file, because it won't let me attach it to this post. So to create the batch file, paste the following text into a new notepad document, and then save the file as "line.bat":

@Echo Off
For /F "tokens=* delims=" %%A in (before.txt) Do Echo %%A >> after.txt

Put the "line.bat" batch file into the same directory as the Moyles archive file
Right-click the "line.bat" file and select "Edit"
Rename "before.txt" to whatever the Moyles archive file is called (it does need to be one word though, so rename it if necessary)
Rename "after.txt" to whatever you want the output file to be called (or leave it as it is)
Backup the Moyles archive text file (just in case)
Double-click the "line.bat" batch file
It should remove all the lines for you

Or if you can't be bothered doing all that, then send me the Moyles archive file, and I'll remove the lines and send it back to you :)
