I actually shivered reading that... Although, if i'm honest, obviously not wanting it to end, but very curious about what we'll get for the last show. Am assuming we'll have a special one off cheesy song (thats not a question Al) and that sorta stuff.

I think you'll be pleased to know that I've not read anything that's surprised me suggestion wise for the last show which means we're pretty in sync with what we think the ending should be.

The only thing I will add is that there's no way there was going to be one last show. I'm working on a period of 'last shows'. Broad stroke details on the show on Monday, I'll fill you in on the details after the announcement including which days I recommend you take off work!

This comment has highly encouraged me.

It is the end of an era but I am still far more excited about what will happen next than I am sad about the end of TCMS at Breakfast. I know you will go from strength to strength Aled in what I am sure will soon be an Executive Producer role (if that doesn't happen someone wants shooting), and there has been enough speculation about what might be in store for Chris (and possibly Dave) to make me look forward with huge interest.

I know the last week is going to be amazing. All the best with it Al.

Aled, I have booked off the 13th of August just incase the show is generous enough to invite some of its biggest fans to the party.

Edit: I am Nathan in Bracknell and I'm more than happy to be Sandy if Dom is Danny

They said on the show that all that would be confirmed when they return from hols. Please don't ask questions that Aled isn't in a position to answer at this point.

Sorry, think I asked it before Aled mentioned about it being confirmed after their holidays. Sorry again.

S'alright :) I'm just wary of poor Aled having to deal with repeat questions he can't answer and getting fed up with us!

Yes, I know what I'm doing. I'm going to take a career break and take three months off Producing. Doing a breakfast show for almost 9 years and working on a daily radio show for almost 15 years is exhausting and before I take up another role at Radio 1 I want to recharge my batteries. I want to make sure that I offer the BBC 100% of my creative energies and I'm not sure I can do that if I'm exhausted.

I'm still going to be doing my presenting role in that time - I'm looking forward to being able to give more of time to working on social action projects for Radio 1 and other parts of the BBC as presenter.

Aled, just wondering if there are plans to show the last couple shows on the "Red Button" ? Considering how successful the marathon show was, I'd have thought it'd be another nice touch for the breakfast show to go out on.

I believe they said on the show that they'd put in for that to happen.

I hope all the team really enjoy the last shows, I know from my listening experience my favourite shows are always the ones where the team are enjoying themselves, so I just hope you don't try to and just please the listeners - make sure you can cry some happy tears on the 14th of September :)

Ah ok, thanks. Not had a chance to listen to the show since Friday's just past so a couple days behind.

Aled, a couple of questions: Just wondering about the stage the planning is at for the final couple of weeks. Have all of the ideas of what should happen been decided now, and therefore is it "just" about putting them into place and organising from now on?

Also, do you think you will be able to detach yourself from the planning whilst you are away, or do you think you will be mentally turning things over in your mind?

A final question: how does the preparation for this compare to other major features/shows? For example, the marathon show?

Enjoy your holiday. Well deserved :D

Those are actually difficult questions to answer at this stage, I'll be able to give you a much better answer once the last show has gone out ;)

The final 14 shows are much harder to plan because of human factors rather than logistical.

Add to that the fact that this is the first time Radio 1 has had to deal with the baton of breakfast being handed over in 9 years there's been some confusion about how it should be done with inconsistencies from dept to dept and person to person (don't forget, as much as we're honouring the legacy of TCMS we're launching a new breakfast show too!).

As for my holiday, I have never worked so hard and been so stressed about finishing as much as I can before tomorrow lunchtime to help me switch off while away, but inevitably there's going to be the odd conference call over the next fortnight! :)

We're hoping we can, I'd say it's 70/30 in favour of it happening at the moment.

Hi Aled,

Are you able to shed any light on the method that will be used to get tickets to the final CMS party?

By that I mean, will it be by registration (like the London Karaoke) or by an on air/physical competition of some sort (like Find Aled), just so I know whether I stand a chance of going. As I can't listen live from 7.30-9am and I'm at work I'm worried I'll miss out!

Already got the morning off in hope...

Not discussed or decided yet. It'll run week 2 of the 3 weeks of the 14 shows.

Aled you said on twitter that you missed your cameo on britians next top model which was on Monday. Just had a look on website and it is repeated on Friday at 8pm. Thought might help you

Aled would up you ever ask chris to go on lord sugars plane for last show for charity? Also will Dave or Dom be doing any more games?

Thanks for everything over the years

Not a question as such for Aled, but just a passing comment.
I'm sure whatever you guys do for the last 14 shows will be great, make sure you do it for yourselves to enjoy too and not just us!
Its a shame we can't all be there, but I realise the logistics involved!
Just thought of a question though, why didn't you ever come to Ipswich?!?! We'd had loved to have you, there was even a piece in the local paper begging you to come!
Good luck for the next few weeks and the future too. Enjoy your holiday. Xxx
