On the whole, I agree. It was a strange listen this morning.

Like I said elsewhere, the lack of "Veron here, in for Chris" just seemed odd, and Vernon didn't seem to be his usual upbeat self.

I have listened to Chris forever, and certainly all the breakfast show... Due to starting work at 8:30, I listen everyday day from around 6:45.

This morning with Vernon was about the blandest I've known the radio1 breakfast show to be; who on earth wants constant music at that time in the morning? And why only 1 person? I hate the term, zoo format, it's just a lazy form of journalism and a term that is used as they cannot be arsed to portray the intricacies of such a team.

I heard an apparently bored Vernon talk over some bland backing track and then segway into 3/4 tunes. I felt no involvement in the show and missed all the jingles that we have grown to love.

I didn't want to get so down about missing my favourite part of my morning routine but today has just hammered it home exactly what the future will sound like - and I don't like it. Chris is just too good!

I understand Radio 1's philosophy but am just gutted as it leaves us (i'm 29) with no alternative... I flicked to Free Radio and Capital but it is just awful.

Whatever the new format is, it needs more than 1 person - it just does, we need banter, audience engagement... It's also been confirmed that the new jingle package will contain no sung jingles just a theme.

So heres to a bland and boring future which will in turn follow the rest of radio 1's recent output; middle of the road, dumbed down garbage...

True. I suggest everyone uses this 2wks as a dry run for the show ending: download what you need to from the archive, get your files in order on your mp3 player or whatever, plan your course of action. Be ready, people! With some careful planning, you can still hear Moyles in the morning. I know it's not quite the same, but it'll do!

I heard the whole show and I thought Vernon was pretty good this morning. Yes, he was a bit subdued but that was because he was shattered due to reasons largely beyond his control.

As far as Grimshaw goes, at least give the guy a chance. If he is given any freedom at all, which I am sure he will be as there is always more speech on the breakfast show, I think he will do a good job. He doesn't have a bland personality and if he can take to the early starts he will be a success in my opinion.

The future I fear is that there will be few pubs and no fun radio in mornings. They want you up, out, and sat behind your desk and pipe down and get to bloody work.

Given that dave and Jayne split up in april last year and the show was only cancelled last month it takes a big stretch of the imagination to come up with that story. Also the fact that Dave and Chris are clearly still the best of friends kinda knocks it on the head. Some how I think the last RAJARS had a lot more to do with the reason than anything.Some people have far too m uch time on their hands...

I still find the thought of an imminent end quite a strange and fear filled one. Given that TCMS is such a large part of my life, I still find it hard to imagine it not being there. Pretty sure it won't hit home for a few weeks yet, once its all done.

Although, on the plus side, it has meant the return of Carrie (and Rachel too, I hope) which I've been championing for ages now (see ask Aled thread if in doubt). This is a very good thing.

I actually almost teared up on the tram this morning. They weren't even talking about the end - it was during the Jake Humphrey chat - but I just suddenly thought about how little of the show we have left and I found myself quite emotional. Thank goodness I was wearing sunglasses

Not going to lie, I think they could have made these last few weeks so much better. What use is it bringing back an old feature for just one day, and bringing back a major ex-team member for just 40mins?

They should have took each week at a time, and maybe had 3 old features back all week. For example, this week they could have had Where am I, Yesterdays Weather and Celebrity Tarzan, last week could have been One Road Travel, Sting Ring and Tedious Link. Doing just one of each feature just seems a bit bizzare to me, you're hardly able to enjoy it before it has ended, again.

And the same could have been done with the likes of Carrie, she should have been back for at least a whole show, maybe a week. Yes I know you could say "well they have a life too...", but you could guarantee anyone would be willing to come back. It all just feels a bit rushed to me. It could have been so much better IMO.
