Brilliant, thanks hugely. Christ, there's me thinking I'm one of a kind by keeping all this, then we get two people within a week who have been doing the same thing! :D

I have a few older random Freeview recordings and every show (direct, unedited, unrecoded iPlayer rips -- MP3, then AAC) from the 1st of July 2010.
I also have video from most of the video stuff TCMS has done -- whether my rips or from others.

It'd be good to put together a list of everything Chris has done on R1, audio, video etc. Maybe also a set of SFVs or (even better) par2 files to check a collection by year.
I am still leeching some old shows you guyz have saved to archive.org and it needs a tidy up, but my Chris Moyles folder is currently weighing in at:

I used to have much more free time and would clip and upload for folk.
Here's a list of all the shows i've been able to record http://tinyurl.com/93nhyf5
There has been a few times when my DVD recorder didn't record correctly and might have missed one or two, but this is what i've got if there's anything else needed for the archive.

I think we have everything. Breakfast and Chris related certainly, I'm missing a handful of Vernon/Sara+team shows, but the shows with Chris are the most important to me.

Afternoon shows should be the next target. If Aled has some or can get hold of some, then we definitely need to see if he is willing to share them out.

Gaps? Filling that to the extent that we have done to the Breakfast shows I'd say is 99.9% impossible. Unless Chris himself archives everything, then there's no chance. But there's definitely more shows we can get from Chris' time at Radio 1, I'm sure.

I think I've said this before, but saving all the isolated audio and video clips from the website should be a priority. When Chris leaves, I don't think that stuff will stay there for long, there's plenty of Afternoon show material that has been lost from the website, not to mention a load of Mark and Lard stuff I'd have love to have kept. Internet Archive might save the webpage layout, but once the multimedia clips have been deleted from the BBC servers, then they're gone. The running order section of the website needs to be archived as well.

I'm happy to message Aled back and ask him if he has any afternoon shows archived. But I'd rather not tell him we have all the breakfast shows until it's official, and they are all in the archive.

I've only briefly looked through the archive list itself, so I don't know where the gaps are, but would it be possible for people to distribute the gap-shows to editors at some point then, particularly the early years, so that we can start editing them and filling in the gaps? I for one definitely intend to start listening to the breakfast show right from the start soon after the show ends, and I would love to be able to listen to the breakfast show from start to finish.

I've got a lot of the stuff posted on the web site as video. I'm not completely OCD about it, but I have a lot of it.

e.g.

I'd more than happy to help download videos from TCMS Radio 1 site, the BBC Radio 1 Youtube page and TCMS Youtube page. I think it would be a good idea if we created a list of all the videos and designate certain videos for different people to download and then upload to archive.org or somewhere like that. I can download from both Youtube and the BBC site as I have software for both.

Didn't ever register that the two dates were connected, if indeed they were. He does sound dreadful on that first show back though, just listening to that first link now.

Yeah, that's definitely when they were breaking up. The first show without him is the one where Vernon was so desperate to deflect from the truth that he said the phrase "chris is sicky-poo", later extended to "sicky-sicky-poo-poo", about ten times. Makes me feel nauseous just remembering it!

2004 - All there.
2005 - The link for October 31st 2005 needs moving from the November list. I was just about to reupload it. Otherwise all there.
2006 - All there up until August as Ben is still working through them.
2007 - Looks as though the final 3 shows of February are there twice. And the 8/9 April. Otherwise up until the end of June is all there.
2008 - Up until end of September are there.
2009 - September through to end of the year is fine. I have the rest of the year (apart from the 5 Vernon shows in August) so I guess the first one out of Ben, Ian or Slaphead who finishes off the years I gave them can have 2009 to play with.
2010 - All there.
2011 - All there.
2012 - All there.

If we didn't want to have to rely on archive.org and other file-hosting websites, I believe that James H has quite a lot of webspace available. So in the long-term I wonder if it could be possible to create a basic website to host all this audio and video.

Does anyone have any idea how big it all ends up as? I believe you have pretty much all the audio and video Neil?

My biggest server (currently already hosting the entire TV rips from the Marathon show) still has 500GB available:

If it's looking to be bigger than that, then my Amazon S3 account may be a better bet.

I'd tart up the listing etc a bit, but here's what I currently have on there:

Looking back I realize I kind Jamie's post wrongly about saving stuff from the website. So I suppose for now as long as we made sure that at least two people had the audio and video downloaded then we could think later about hosting it all on a website.

I didn't realize we were so close to having a complete archive.

jamiec21 wrote:So basically we'll be able to provide all the breakfast shows with Chris apart from that one show - Friday 16th November 2007, which I reckon was never put on the iPlayer or Listen Again or whatever it was known as at that time. This thread from that day viewtopic.php?f=28&t=18008 backs that theory up, although it does suggest that the Listen Again stream was working a few days later - did anyone download it and can share?

I'm also missing 16 of the shows hosted by Vernon and/or Sara with the team.

Do you want me to see if Aled has Friday 16th November 2007? And also the 16 Vernon/Sara shows (if you know the dates)?
#473784
I've combined all my breakfast shows into one folder anyway, and it comes out like this:

2004 – 222
2005 – 219
2006 – 144 (Ben editing)
2007 – 124 (Ian editing) + 98 unedited = 222
2008 – 162 (Slaphead editing)
2009 – 154 (mostly incomplete shows) (Jamie to distribute for someone to edit)
2010 – 222
2011 – 239
2012 – 145 (in progress)

So compared to yours Jamie, it's pretty similar numbers:

2004 - 221 [+2 CM Specials]
2005 - 216 [+2 CM Specials]
2006 - 216 [+1 shows w/o CM, +2 CM Specials]
2007 - 215 [+4 CM Specials]
2008 - 215 [+1 CM Specials]
2009 - 202 [+18 shows w/o CM]
2010 - 210 [+9 shows w/o CM, +2 CM Specials]
2011 - 213 [+7 shows w/o CM, +19 CM specials]
2012 - 141 [+6 CM Specials, +14 shows to go]
