The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

I drove from warwick to Surrey to get there early before my meeting so I could sit in the car and watch the last show - cried buckets. They have been my alarm since day 1, I take their podcasts on hols so I don't miss the team, I climbed Kilimanjaro after having a dialogue with Racheal. So sad to see them go. End of a wonderful era - thank you team Moyles xx

Wow, what a fantastic ending!

I had really hoped that the last show would concentrate mainly on the core group of Chris and the current team, and that's exactly what we got.

No disrespect to Carrie, Rachel or any of the previous team members but today absolutely deserved to be about Chris, Dave, Dom, Aled, Tina, Pippa & Freya. Everyone got included in the run-up to the end and I'm pleased that we got one final show after yesterday's party.

Nice to finally get to see Paul the voiceover guy and the McFly video was brilliant.

Everyone got their chance to say a proper goodbye in the final half hour and the goodbye song was just perfect, I'm a 40 year old bloke and I was getting teary-eyed at the end.

Mornings will never be the same again, Chris seemed like the only person in Radio 1 who wasn't afraid to be cheesy or acknowledge Radio 1's history - it's all very well for the station to champion new music but it should never be afraid to champion the old stuff every now and then too.

Many have commented on the changes to the show in recent months, the loss of the Tedious Link, the lack of retro jingles during the Golden Hour to name but a few - the cracks were starting to appear in the show as the editorial policies changed, so in some ways I'm happy that the decision was made to end the show now and go out on a high, just as Mark & Lard did 8 1/2 years ago.

I wish Grimmy well, no doubt a whole army of Moyles fans will now desert Radio 1 and a new breed of Grimmy fans / T4 viewers will come in to replace them, which of course is exactly what the bosses want as it continues with its obsession with age of listeners.

I remember the pasting Matthew Bannister got for shipping out the "old guard" many years ago, at that time I was right in the middle of the target audience and actually agreed with pretty much everything he did back then. I guess now I'm old guard myself and it's time for me to ship out too.

Thanks Chris and the team, you've been part of the soundtrack of my life since the very first early bit. You will be missed and never bettered.

When the team all started singing I literally burst into tears while using listen again. (School gets in the way) So moving. The perfect end to the show. It was not all sadness though, they were also having a laugh and it did turn the last hour into a celebration.

Awesome.

I got up at 6:30 this morning and watched the show on the red button till 8:00am.

Because I'm only 15, I had school - so had to leave then. But for the last 4 years, I've listened to Chris and the team on my walk to school (via my phone which has a FM radio on). It was so hard listening to Starboy while walking and not crying or anything. :(

I'm now in Year 11, and this last year is going to be extra hard for me. Not only have I got exams and the like, I won't have Chris and the team with me for my 20 minute walk every morning. I used to find it hard enough if they were on holiday for a week, I have no idea how I'm going to last... :( :(

I don't have anything against Grimmy, always enjoyed him when he's filled in for Scott or Greg, but I just don't think I'll be able to except someone else doing the breakfast show.

When I got back in, I watched the last 2 hours of the show (I recorded the Freeview stream on my PC). I've got to say, I was fine and no tears up till about 9:40 - when the team started doing their messages. Tina and Aled set me off. Then the final song. :(

I feel like a saddo for crying, because 'its just a radio show', but then I remember what Chris said on his leaving message. It's not 'just a radio show', and I 'get it'.

I hope Chris does come back to Radio 1, whether it be the late show or weekends. As he is a brilliant DJ, but this is the end of a era. An era that means mornings will never be the same again...

I suppose this means I can lay-in till 7am now.

Sorry all, but how great would that be, Chris here! I do fear most Americans would fail to grasp the genius however. Chris may be FAR too witty and clever for most American palettes I’m afraid.

I totally agree, Dave. His wit is too quick for the majority of Americans and, as he's said, not everyone 'gets it,' even in the UK. But it is a very UK sense of humor he has (*humour). I think you have to be a real Anglophile here in the States to be able to enjoy the show. And further, Chris has such a deep sense of love for his country. That was so evident by how much he loved following the torch all over the England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. That, along with his innate sweetness (it's definitely there, if you know where and how to look) just wouldn't relocate to the States very smoothly.

I agree with the person (apologies, I don't remember who it was) who said it was simply a reverse echo to "Hello Great Britain."

And, yes, it was totally a 'nod' to the Muppet Movie song. ^_^

I was completely fine this morning until Chris started playing 'Time to Say Goodbye' and then I was off. That song just makes me bawl every time.

To me it's the same emotions as when me and my school friends met up for one last time just before we all went to different universities. In the back of my mind I knew everything was coming to an end but I just enjoyed myself and had fun. Then in the car home, reality hit me and I realised that things would never really be the same again and I cried.

I really do feel like i've lost a group of mates today and I think most of you feel the same way. :)

Great show, strange day.

Since the show ended this morning iv'e been pottering around the house all day (I took the last two days off to watch) with this strange feeling, It's kind of the same feeling iv'e had broken up with someone and then I realized in some way I have after so long waking up with the show or going home with them. Then it dawned on me that it's finished.
I'm happy to say as a 29 man I had a tear my eye when they said their goodbyes, but then a smile with the cheesy finish.

So goodbye to the Chris Moyles show and hope to see or hear you and the team again soon.

Thank you for everything

I wonder if that's why he decided to end the show - a continual stream of orders to get rid of certain features etc.. Is that the general consensus? He always seemed very grateful for Andy 'getting' him and letting him do what he wanted. Maybe if he was still in charge then this wouldn't have happened.

The show was ended for him. Tedious going was a team choice.

Very, very true.  We Americans rarely appreciate clever humour if we even recognize it at all.  Chris' talent is far too specialized to meet with any success here.  As you said, we Americans that are his fans meet him half way with a broad understanding and appreciation for Anglocentric culture already.  Ask any New Yorker, or worse yet anyone outside of maybe five major cities who someone as mainstream as David Cameron is and I'm pretty sure more than 50% will give you a blank stare.  Now try asking them who Duncan Bannatyne or  Andy Peters are?  Good luck with that!

I watched the video late last night. I heard the first half of the show but completely missed the second half due to unavoidable circumstances.

Now over the past few weeks when ever someone has posted that they are near to tears or really upset I've thought to myself, quite callously & unfairly , "Oh for f**ks sake wise the bap!".
My thoughts being, Its only a radio show, a brilliant one, but in the grand scheme of things, its just a bit of fluff.

So imagine my surprise when watching the last half hour of the final show, when i felt a genuine lump in my throat.
I honestly felt really sad. Of course i had been drinking, but i'm not the type that gets maudlin or depressed when in my cups, just the opposite in fact.

When Tina started filling up earlier i wanted to give her a hug to cheer her up & tell her everything would be fine....well i normally do have many thoughts about embracing Tina, thats true, but this time it was for altruistic, not sordid reasons. :D

Its struck me that I actually really really will miss a show that keeps me cheered up on the way to work on an early shift at 'Christ knows what' o'clock in the morning. And keeps me going as fatigue & frustration set in at the end of a long hard night shift - as it has done all this week, for the last time. :(

Its got under my skin in a way i never thought it could, so in the very faint off chance that anyone connected with the show will ever read this, i'd like to thank them all for the past 8 years & before that when they were on afternoons as well.

It really did keep me going at times.

Thanks.

PS, It that bugger comes back on the late slot, i won't be happy. I've already remoned Radio1 from my DAB pre-sets!!

I agree with you for the most part here. Most of us over here in The States wouldn't get Chris at all. I'd probably expand your limit from major cities to most places with a major university (for example I'm just outside of Madison, Wisconsin). Other than that I think your right on the money with your comment. As others have suggested here from time to time, I think Chris might have some success on SiriusXM. Other than that, he'd find it very difficult to fit in on the radio or TV.

Just been watching bits of the show (was working so could only listen yesterday) and during The Streets (about 3 hr 19 in) I'm sure I saw Tim Davie (head of BBC Audio and Music) pop in with a bottle of something, which was nice, but it got me thinking did Andy, Ben or indeed Rhys appear at any point if not that's something I find a bit strange.

Just on Rhys he did appear on Radio 4's Feedback yesterday talking about Grimmy's new show if anyones interested.

At sometime in the last show, when he was "looking for suitable music", there was a snippet of what I think was a TV theme tune.

It's really bugging me, I thought it was in the last 30 mins, but I've just relistened with no luck (I skipped through songs though).

Can anyone please tell me which TV theme it was.

Cheers chaps.

Try asking about Boris Johnson, they won't know that either.
If Chris ended up on Sirius he could go wild. Howard Stern (shock jock) is on Sirius and if Chris was on it, he wouldn't have such tight restrictions on music or comments.

A question to anyone who went to the Thursday show - was there a break for the team to change clothes? When on the theater stage and singing Friday's final song, they were wearing the same clothes that they wore on Friday. Yet, looking back at Thursday's show, they had different clothes on.

To be fair, ask anyone in the UK to name anyone in the US government apart from Obama , or possibly Hilary Clinton, & i reckon you'd get a 99% failure rate.
