Don't think I've mentioned this but Sara is covering Early breakfast followed by Zoe Ball on Breakfast the week Grimmy starts.

I think I will have to give that a listen. I liked Sara quite a lot when she would sub for Chris. As an aside, I downloaded Shaun Keaveny's show from Radio 6 to see if it could be a decent alternative to Chris. I have to say, it didn't do much for me. I'll give it a couple more tries though to be fair.

My alarm was, as before, set to R1 this moring and I heard the end of Dev and the beginning of Mills as a result. I got into the car and switched the radio on and before I had got a mile down the road I was on Radio 2. I am happy to give Grimmy a listen next week but I already know Mills is a pile of shit.

I put Mills on when I woke up this morning, just so I didn't fall back to sleep, and then when I came back in from the shower he was playing a record that actually made me go "this isn't music, it's just a noise." So I flipped to radio 2 - the first time my digital radio has been on any station other than R1 (I bought it specifically to listen to Moyles afte moving into my flat and discovering the FM signal was crap). This is what happened on Evans' show:

1. He played Kylie (tolerable)
2. He had an 8 yr old child on the phone talking about a cake stall she ran at the weekend (why?)
3. He started a conversation with his newsreader about why we have words with silent letters in them
4. He talked about how he went to an auction and bought a bridge (yes, an actual bridge)
5. More on silent letters before the news with Moira Stewart, whose voice makes me want to kill myself
6. He played the Dandy Warhols and Cornershop to slightly redeem himself, which was good as I was about to tell my flatmate that I was returning to bed and pretending it had all been a bad dream.

Conclusion: Chris Evans is not for me.

I'm betting it was that dreadful shouty eurotrash song that woke me up at about 7:15.

I've given Chris Evans about 5 minutes this morning, but I just can't stand the self obsessed ponce.

Tried Shaun Keaveny's show and that lasted about 1/2 hour, it's bearable but certainly not anything to replace CMS.

I'm feeling rather incomplete today, I guess it's something i've just got to get used too...

I dunno, I've heard that before and although I find it kinda creepy, the offending record in this case didn't sound like it was that. It was about 7.15am.

I seem to be getting posts deleted all over the place, without actually knowing what I'm saying wrong?! It's not intentional, honestly!!? Anyone shed any light on my post in here?

I merely mentioned how I agreed about Mills & Grimshaw not being listenable too, along with Evans or the majority of commercial stations, so would be listening to a mix of podcasts and talksport breakfast in the morning!

I can't really disagree with any of that (especially Moira - she always sounds pre-recorded even when she is live, what's that about?). But the fact that I still found it more tolerable than Mills is significant.

To be fair I'm not really too worried - I listen for such a short time in the morning anyway, the main difference for me will be that there is nothing to catch up with later. Boo.

I'd set the radio for a local station, turned it off after 20 minutes as it did my head in. Switched over to Radio 2 but that wasn't that good either so am back to square one again, sigh!

He has actually bought the Dunlop bridge from Donington Park. Claim to fame, I've crossed the track on it TWICE. Amazing I know.

These were the only bits I heard (only flicked over from my ipod to listen to R2 for the last 3/4 mins of my journey), so to me the show sounded quite good. I must say that I much prefer Moira's news-reading to Dom's. She not only reads 'proper' non-Newsbeat news, but also has what I would called a proper posh news voice. She makes me sit up and listen to the news properly, plus she brings me back to childhood days of watching the start of the six o'clock news after CBBC as a kid.

Psy - Gangnam Style

Personally, I love the record. And also love Scott Mills. Don't know about Grimmy though, I'll give him a shot.

If that doesn't happen, I adore Danny Wallace on XFM London. I guess I'll just need to learn to deal with adverts.

I've joined today as I too stood about 5 minutes of Evans this morning. I can't get 6 music in the car on the way to work, so really don't know what to listen to. I was hoping maybe someone could recommend something, but I guess we're all in the same boat. Ho Hum. :?

I downloaded, edited and listened to Sara Cox standing in for Fearne Cotton after Chris's last show, and I did the same for Sara's Sunday show. They were ok, but she wasn't really funny like she usually was when standing in for Chris. I can always still listen to her though. Maybe she would be really funny if she had someone with her.

Anyway, I'm sure I'll probably give Keaveney a try. And Grimshaw.

And Chris Evans is just not an option.

She isnt as good when filling in for Fearne. She is usually at her best on her own Sunday show. Granted, yesterdays wasn't her best show, but quite often she is laugh out loud funny. I think she is brilliant :D

Not the same when I've heard her on Radio 2 though.
